Belts and Plugs

How often should your belts and plugs be changed under normal driving conditions(conservative driving)

Belts I think is 50-60K, the oem platinum plugs are supposed to last 100K. I would change the plugs earlier than that, I did both my belts and plugs at around 63K. But it really all depends on how you define conservative driving/normal driving conditions. I would base it on that and mileage.

Belts - start looking at them around 4OK miles or 4 years for cracks.
Plugs - I would replace them at 50K miles and also remember to check for leaking valve covers prior to the end of your powertrain warranty!!!

Sooooo, when you check your covers, you might as well change the plugs then since you've done most of the work.

Correct on checking those belts for cracks, that's the first sign that their on their way.

I thought just the spark plug tube seals where the ones leaking. You can see down in the tube when you do the plugs, check the plugs, you'll see oil residue on them. Also what work are you talking about? I did my plugs without taking anything off except the coil packs. Took around 30-45mins with a friend and beers. lol

I just changed my belts at 37,000 miles and they were badly cracked after taking them off and looking at them. My friend did his at 38,000 miles on his 06 Coupe and they too were shot.

If you do find oil in the spark plugs is that gasket easy to change?

I wouldn't say it's easy, but if your mechanically inclined it shouldn't be too hard either.

kinda shows you some of the work involved. Closest thing I could find.

I've got a little under 30K miles on my car, but the car has been sitting alot, I'm looking at getting my 30K tuneup, should I have the belts changed at the same time as the rest of the stuff? I can hear a noise sometimes that sounds like the belts are a little bit hard/worn.

Depending on what part of the county you live, I would check your belts alot sooner than 50k miles. I live in Austin (Central Texas) it gets pretty hot in the summer. The dealer noted that my belts were showing signs of obvious cracks at around $25k, I eventually replaced my belts at 30k. Just fyi.
