Trickle Charger for the Winter -
Im a noob at this whole battery float charger and winter storage thing.
Im a assuming the 2004 g35 coupe 6MT Negative battery terminal is the one thats grounded right? The reason I ask is that I am going to hook up my trickle charger on tonight for the "Canadian" winter. Also where would be the best place to ground the black clip for the charger?
This is what the manual says:
Determine which post of battery is grounded (connected) to the chassis. If negative post is grounded to the chassis follow this step -
Connect positive charger clip (red) to positive battery terminal.
Connect negative charger clip (black) to a good metal engine ground away from the battery. Do no connect clip to fuel lines or sheet-metal body parts.
Thanks for you input
The charger im going to use is the Ctek US 3300

G is somewhat ready for the winter
Just thought I'd share my experience. On my winter storage of the G.
1st off I did my first oil change on the G. Piece of cake. I had ramps so it was easy. The thing that surprised me was the amount of dirty oil that came out was not even close to the 5qts. more like 4. Not sure about that. Makes me feel uneasy. I guess the used car dealer I bought it from didn't put the right amount?hmm...I'll monitor the oil for sure in the spring.
2nd, I hooked up my sweet trickle charger. after removing the battery cover and plenium cover, I discovered were I could hook up the negative part on the engine block.
Here are my pics. sorry for the quality, these are off my iphone.
Circle on the right is the Negative terminal to the engine block.
Positive terminal
AC Pig tail/convenience plug
And the Trickle Charger of course
And the finished installation...
Tomorrow and the weekend I will be cleaning and detailing - if I can sneak in time.
