Winterization????

I have a 04 coupe that Im about to store for the winter. I have done some research and learned that I should: Change oil, fill tank, stabilizer, unplug battery, jack stands, and wrap the car.

I have never heard of the wrapping until the other day. I was told to take painters drop plastics, the kind you use to cover your furniture, and wrap the car completely. also insert some steel wool into the exhaust to keep out unwanted pests.

I was unsure of these practices. Please let me know if there is anything else I should be doing or not doing?

Thanks...

I have mine stored in my garage all wrapped up for the winter, but not wrapped like what you mentioned. I start up my car every once a week just to warm it up for a bit while I'm outside doing some stuff on the other car. Hope that gives you a general idea too.

Saran wrap works good. Lol jp.

Why do you need to wrap up your car? Can't you just use a car cover to keep the dust off??

You would be better off with a car cover so you can at least have access to your car still to start it every now and then.

Im in MD and we get a decent amount of snow, rain in the winter. When the weather is tolerable (no snow, no ice on ground), I take the car out for the day's errands. However, I wash it whenever it is above freezing to get all the salt off and finish with a nice coat of wax. I have bee doing this on my IP coupe for a few winters now and have had zero issues with body rust or under body rust.

I agree with you guys. I hears about the saran wrap concept to keep out bugs and pests. From getting mice in the underbody. I feel that a car cover would be adequate.

Any other thoughts on motor storage? I feel that occasional startup with the same oil with possible condensation could be an issue, especially since our motors are oil hogs....?
Thought?
