copying nav dvd using dual layer dvd writer
Sony recently came out with a dual layer dvd writer. Has anyone tried using it to copy the NAV DVD (and used it)?

Re: copying nav dvd using dual layer dvd writer
Is our v6.3 navi dvd dual layer? I thought it was single layer?
Fed Ex just dropped off my Dual-Layer burner this morning, so I can find out
I heard on the acura boards, that people successfully "backed up" the latest updated Navi disc, which was a dual layer disc...

I believe it's dual layer. You can probably find out by looking at the amount of data on disc...

This was brought up a while back in the Audio, Video, Sat and Nav forum a while back, but nobody posted a conclusion. Here's the link

Re: copying nav dvd using dual layer dvd writer
I haven't been keeping up with my comp news, but I coulda sworn that dual layers have been out a while, and from what I have seen on the ineternet, they are actually quite affordable. Hell my little brother just got one, albeit a Dell, in his budget comp with a little extra. Usually the big names come out with them first so I figured Sony to have had one out for a while. Am I missing something, probably, very interesting topic though.

Re: copying nav dvd using dual layer dvd writer
I think the Dual Layer has been out for a bit, but they were really expensive. You have to be careful which ones you buy though. Unlike CD-R/RW drives, not just any ol' drive will suffice. I haven't gotten a DVD burner until now, because of all the issues I have seen people deal with. It wasn't until just now, that I found a drive get nothing but rave reviews for a change. I got the Lite-On Dual-Layer drive, which is the same as the Sony version, because sony outsourced to Lite-On. From what I heard, this particular drive just came out a few weeks ago.
