I wouldn't worry about it. You'd be surprised at how fast some cars can be when modded. Take my Pontiac GTP for example. There are a bunch of guys on the Grand Prix boards, where with not much money, (2 grand tops), they are running in the 12's for the 1/4. Unless you know where to look, the cars look stock. A real sleeper actually. Factory forced induction rocks...

Sometimes I debate if I should mod my GTP, or save that money, and throw it all in the G. So far, I've been doing the latter, because every time I drive the G, I have a grin from ear to ear

You must have watched Days of Thunder too many times. Drafting actually helps all the cars that are doing it. It shares the aerodynamic load. The front car actually runs faster when drafted as well as the rear drag is shared by both cars as well. But when a car leaves a draft, they instantly become subjected to the same aerodynamic load as the car ahead(assuming the aerodynamics are the same). Drafting doesn't start having an effect until you are right behind the car in front of you. And the more cars in the draft, the more of the drag is shared. Often times you'll see a long chain of cars passing a short chain of cars. And lastly, keep in mind we are talking about the aerodynamic drag starting at 75 mph. NASCAR guys are topping out at over 200 mph. 200 mph has 4 times the aerodynamic drag as 100 mph. Drafting at 75 mph would make very little difference.

What you need is a 6MT. I'm sure that would've helped.

Actually, you should have placed the AT in the manual shift mode and downshifted to 3rd (85MPH/136km/h max speed) to accelerate faster than the AT will in the full auto mode.

I hope this is the last time I have to hear of something like this. I hate mustangs with a passion. Next time, run him off the road if you have to.
