there I am, doing 75 in the left lane, this mustang pulls up behind me, flashes his lights, I don't budge, he guns it and pulls around to the right land and tries to pass me even though there are a pair of cars blocking both lanes about 100 ft up the raod. Well I floored it and my AT just didn't give me enough to get ahead... granted he hit his gas about 1 sec before me but he was BEHIND me.... I know I should be able to smoke a stock mustang, WHAT GIVES do i need an ECU reset or what. That sucked, where's my juice?

I was also smoked by a benz 0-70 but thats a tiny bit more understandable...

I NEED MORE JUICE, my car is AT coupe with the tire upgrade (FLAT = $300 ARRGGHH) what should I do for MORE JUICE?

 

it must have been a gt or the mach 1. I have always pulled on the Gts, but not by much. the mach 1s however are quick on the highway...

do u remember what you ran?

Also consider that Mustangs are pretty easy to mod for some big horsepower. Even stock GTs can give you a pretty good run. Like the old saying goes, there's no replacement for displacement.

Actually, you should have placed the AT in the manual shift mode and downshifted to 3rd (85MPH/136km/h max speed) to accelerate faster than the AT will in the full auto mode.

As was mentioned, Mustangs are easy and relatively cheap to modify. Don't be too dismayed. The guy that owns the performance shop that did all the work to my old '97 Mits. GSX owns a '92 Cobra that has a built, blueprinted and balanced motor that's supercharged. At over 600HP, he would routinely go the cruising strip in Dallas and F with all of the Viper boys.

The lesson to be learned? Don't judge a book by it's cover.

umm if he punched it 1 second before you.. no wonder he smoked you. There is no way you can compensate for that with cars that are similar in aceleration. 6MT would have made very little difference (maybe an extra 5 feet after about 5 seconds)

well, it does matter who stepped on the gas 1st..........was his car stick? if it was.........there is no way u would of smoked him after steppin on the gas after him cuz ur car is auto..........

He smoked you cause you reacted too slowly. As soon as he switched to the right lane you should have gased it. If you plan on not letting him merge then don't let them have any advantage. :-P

My story top yours, I was on 405S stuck behind a Colt doing 55 on the fast lane. There was a huge gap in front of him for at least 1/4-1/2 mile. All the lane was pretty full so I just sat there for a good 10-20 mins behind him. I switched to the right lane as soon as traffic cleared and sped up ato 75. Guess what, this guy is a dick, as soon as he saw me tried to pass him he sped up. WTF. At this point I was pretty annoyed. If you are slow please stay in the the slow lane. I didn't mind sitting behind you for good 10-20 mins but you wouldn't let me pass you? I don't have a G yet but my car has no problem out taking a Colt. I passed him and cut in front of him and slowly decreased to 55mph as he was doing before. He waited 30 second and decided it's too slow for him and tried to pass me from the right. I let him get up to my window, smiled and took off. He tried to keep up for 10 seconds and decided its hopeless.

I don't mind if you do 65mph on the fast lane but when someone wants to go faster at least don't be a dick and sped up so they can't pass you.

 

Regardless of reaction time, that may not have mattered. Very few Mustangs are stock, and chances are that one wasn't either. It doesn't take much to make a GT faster than a G35.
