On Start up..

2004 5AT COUPE

After my car sits for a while (anything longer than about 5 hours). Icrank the car and the rpms go to about 1200, then go all the way down to about 100 and almost shuts off then catches itself and goes to a normal idle.

It only does this if it has been sitting for a while.

Any advice will help. thanks

Hi DUS10,

I had the exact same problem soon after I purchased my used G. It would only happen on cold starts... after the initial "surge" in RPM after turning the key, the rpm's would drop to a car-shaking, near-stalling level. I took it to the dealer and they cleaned the throttle body and fuel injectors. Never happened again...
