jack / jackstands question

im about to install my swaybars, but i have a question

since im tired of using the jack from the trunk, im gonna go get a bottle jack from harbor freight.... my question is where to place the jack since im sure it wont have a notch on it to line up with the notch at the jackpoint on the car.

also, once it's jacked up, where's the best place to put the jack stands?

Harbor freight is selling their aluminum hydraulic floor jack for $59, that's all you'll ever need and much better than a bottle jack. While you're at it buy a couple jack stands to be safe. The jack points can be found in your manual.

+1 floor jacks are a better way to go. just place jack stands in the notch at the jackpoints

Here's your answer just two posts above, apparently you didn't read.... Grab your manual, find the info on jack placement and look under your G so you can identify each location easier....that help?

Is that this one?:

Wouldn't this one be better since it has a lower minimum clearance? Or is that difference not that significant?:

I was actually thinking of going to pick one up today, along with some floor stands.

^^the first link is the one im talking about

my buddy has that one and so does shane(brand US general but same idea)

it seems as if the first one has more clearance because it slopes down faster than the first but when you go there see them in person, from what i saw this blue one is the best so far

i like the blue one better. i used cookiemonsters jack before and its nice. thinkin of buyin one for my own.

also its has a rubber pad in the middle for cushion and it drops really slow which is great!

i have the one in the second link and the minimum height is 2 3/4. its super low profile. also its only 10 pounds heavier than the aluminum and it was 100 bucks cheaper. sign up for HF's mailing list and theyll occassionally send you 15-25% coupons.

Yeah I'll just check them both out in person, thanks.

Btw, does Shane's floor jack fit under your car, or do you need ramps first? You have INGS sides right?

this maybe true if you have stock sides. But not necessarily so with aftermarket ones.
