Hey guys, i am currently in the process of cleaning my rays forged 19" wheels. The wheels are in excellent condition other then the fact that on the inside, it looks like there is a lot of brake dust that has settled on the rim....almost looks as if someone sprayed paint from the outside of the rim. The outside of the rim is completely fine.

I decided to try and see what i could do if i used a little scrubber from Mr. Clean. It is a lightweight plastic type scrubber, the type you might use in the kitchen. i thought the inside of the wheels were powder coated so i figured it might be fine. i tried it out and it worked, but i had to do some more intense scrubbing then i thought.

Currently i am just using meguiars gold class carwash. i would use a wheel cleaner but i don't have one, and i honestly don't think that a wheel cleaner would get rid of this stuff

Anyways, so my question is, is it damaging my wheels to scrub? Is there a protective coating placed on the inside of the rim? i am only scrubbing the inside of the wheel, not the outside that shows.

Also, can i wax my rim with just a normal wax?

there is a protective powdercoating on your oem rims. Mine is coming off in a few places, its not noticeable unless you 2 inches away starring at the spot. Just give the rims a good rubdown.

I'm saying (a bit sarcastically) that your outlook is just a tad pessimistic today. I know as well as anyone that other people don't treat your stuff as well as you do, but IMO that's no reason not to take care of it yourself.

so yes or no, never really reached a conclusion. can i scrub away, or should i just soap and water it? i just bought some of meguiars hot wheel shine or whatever, doesn't seem to do much, especially not for 13 bucks.

You've been given the answer grasshopper!! You can use regular wax after cleaning but I suggest a sealant applied before the wax. It will provide longer lasting and stronger protection.
