why cant i fill my gas tank up all the way?

my tank was pretty much empty and after about 5-6 gallons it shut off and no matter which way i turn the gas pump it would cut out as if the tank was full but it was not even half full

Give Infiniti a call, I'm sure there was a recall on this issue having to do with the shutter valve....that's the only reason to deal with Infiniti.

Shutter valve problems. You will have to go back to Infiniti for this. I believe there is a TSB for this.

Check out the service bulletin about "hard to fill fuel tank" here:

http://x.infinitihelp.com/forum/loca...d&pp=12&page=3

I assume since it's an official TSB, it won't cost anything at the dealer. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Correct, TSBs apply even if you are out of warranty.

Is this a quick fix or should I expect a long waiting time?
