About To Buy a G35 Coupe, Few Questions for ya'

Well for starters ill go ahead and introduce myself, my name is rich and it looks like i might be driving about 500 miles this weekend to go check out & purchase a g35 coupe.

I have heard some of these g's have issues with oil consumption. Is there anything i can do, or have checked before purchasing the vehicle that could warn me of such issues?

The g35 im going to pursue is an 05 but only has 17,000 miles on it, its also an automatic. Any info or help would be appreciated, i was hoping to find a local infinity dealer in that area and taking it there before purchasing to have them inspect it to the best of there ability sense its a private seller and i wont have a warantee.

I look foward to reading more and posting more on these forum's...im a bit of a mod ***** so im sure you"ll see some pictures and progress soon enough.

Im actually buying this car to have a nice clean, good looking daily driver. My weekend fun car is a 93 del sol with a nice high compression/supercharged/meth injected set-up

lol, yea its kind of odd that the G will be the daily and the del sol will be the weekend car but maybe those tables will turn eventually lol

i look forward to reading pages and pages of information on these car's over the next week or two, ill be sure to post some pic's and such', look forward to owning such a nice smooth car

no issue with oil consumption

low low mileage. i would rec. you do the 30K tuneup regardless of miles, the car is 4 years old. i have a similar situation with my 05, just bought it but i just hit 27K miles

This would make a great DD... low miles for sure. I have a strange feeling hearing about your other car that the G will get modded up also... at that point consider a MiniVan M-F, G on Sat. Del Sol on Sunday.
Friday nights you can alternate.

haha, yea i have a feeling no matter how hard a i try it will be modded at least a little, probably just a few cosmetic mod's to keep me happy..slowly but surely lol, im looking to snag an automatic though to keep me from being tempted to dip into the performance side of things

btw: what exactly does the 30k mile tune-up include?

if i had to guess id say spark plugs, fresh oil, fresh tranny fluid, spark plug wires, tire rotation?... " tire rotation wont be necessary because the tires only have 50% tread life all around..going to buy 4 fresh tires once i get it...gotta research which tire i wanna go with first though"

umm, id just replace the fluids, check the belts for cracking.

fluids meaning cooling fluid, differential fluid, transmission fluid, engine oil.

Maybe even replace the air filter. all of these things will make your car run smoother and will save you money on fixes in the long run.

I haven't done my 30K tuneup yet, but when i do i hope the notice a whole new feel to the car.

Make sure you treat the paint real nice, wash fairly frequently and use high quality stuff, don't cheap out, the G has pretty soft paint and being the kind of car it is, it needs to be looking good all the time, otherwise whats the point? I mean it may be a fast car, but when your stuck in traffic you may as well let others admire your toy.

It's in the owners manual its not a big deal... when I first got mine I drained all fluids... trranny, dif, ect... just to be sure.

The Auto wont save you... it didn't help me. I ended up with one of these:
GTM Stage 3 Transmission and paddle shifters on the steering column.

Either way, modded or not it's fun to drive.
