Hello Guys n Gals,
I would like to say these forums are awesome! I recently became the proud owner of a STOCK 04 G35 Coupe, Red/Black, premium edition Auto![Big Grin](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I was wondering if you all can give me some advice on water temps and tstats for the car in HOT countries.
In BAHRAIN the weather is very hot in summer, 120f easy with high humidity. My water temps sits at the half way mark (see attached pic), is this normal?
As my car is U.S. Spec i was wondering if it will benefit me using the MISHIMOTO Racing Thermostat. Maybe it'll be safer for my engine in the long run to use the Mishimoto racing tstat. My car has 94k miles on the clock.
Let me know what you all think. Cheers.

Thermostats are mostly the same, they either work or not! If you want to make your G run cooler get a quality larger volume aluminum radiator. With your kinda mileage on the clock you're probably due anyway. Our OE radiators have plastic side tank, when they decide to blow it gets very ugly. I've run as large as 3 core radiators in the past with big V8s living in CA. A 2 core aluminum unit should be more than adequate for your needs....![NOD](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/nod.gif)

Mine always runs precisely in the middle too. I have an 04 6MT Black/Black with some minor bolt on mods.
I've driven my car in anything from 100*F weather down to 35* weather and it pretty much is always at the 1/2 way mark, so unless you ever climb more than a tick or two above the half way mark, you are fine.
If I understand lower temp activated thermostats are for cars that warm up very quickly due to high power mods, it doesn't help much if you drive in a hot environment, because once your thermostat is open, it's open.
If you have heat issues (and I would say you have heat issues only if your temp rises above the half way mark by a few ticks or more), then I'd suggest going to a more efficient radiator fluid, since OEM stuff generally doesn't perform the as well as some other stuff. A common stuff used in bikes is Engine Ice - but it is pretty expensive (like 20 for a half gallon). However, it does work well and if you have temp issues it should make a difference.
In extreme situations you can also get an aftermarket radiator.
All I all I think your car will be fine if it's mostly stock. The cars are tested from the factory to run in a variety of environments. I think people would be pretty pissed if their cars had issues once the outside temp reached a certain degree...

Your engine is designed from the factory to run safely at a certain operating temp. The fact that it's 120 outside doesn't really affect the internal operating temp of the engine itself. An aftermarket t-stat may help lower your engine temps, but this does not imply that you'd get better reliability or longevity from the engine. As said before, it's designed to run that way from the factory. Your car appears to be operating within the proper temp range, so I wouldn't recommend replacing your factory t-stat.
