Lag in acceleration?

Owned my 6mt for about a month now. When I really punch it, I can notice a lag in acceleration. Once it gets past this brief lag after getting on the accelerator, everything seems ok. Just seems like the car takes a second to respond to the accelerator being pressed hard. Also seems noticeable in shifting from 1st to 2nd when getting back on the gas if I am driving it hard sometimes. Anyone else notice this? Am I possibly driving it wrong somehow? I drove a mustang GT (manual) for several years prior to this car and never noticed this type of behavior with it. the accelerator was very responsive when i wanted to put it to the floor.

I have the same problem with an automatic, when I push it down I feel exactly the lag your talking about, it feels like your not getting any power for a second and then it goes.

op - Does it cough at all or just bog? What RPM are you rolling on at?

first thought is that the Mustang has a lot more low end torque, can pull from 2000 rpm +/-, the G on the other hand starts really making power in the 3000 rpm range. Also you might try "squeezing" on the throttle instead of just stomping on it.

Maybe a little tune up will help. Change the sparkplugs, change the intake filter and possibly clean the throttle body.

It's normal. Drive by wire lag. Can be fixed with "sprint booster".

^ as stated above.
Do those maintenance things.
Then get the valve body upgrade. Which is way better than SprintBooster in my honest opinion.
I have a thread about it my vb upgrade just posted up not long ago. Check it out.
I'd personally take a mechanical upgrade over a 'harness bypass' (so to speak) any day.
It's worth it.

no noticeable cough or anything, it just seems it doesn't "respond" for a split second. it seems it happens at any RPMs. It happens from a dead stop stomp and also seems to happen sometimes at very high RPMs when driving it hard and shifting from 1st-2nd (from letting off and getting back on the gas during the shift).

mine is the same way....

say for example i am in 2nd gear rolling along at like 30mph, if im not pushing the accelerator at all, and step on it real quick, then i feel that lag, for less than a second, but very noticeable. however, if in the same situation i press the accelerator quickly but gradually (as opposed to punching it) for the first bit of pedal travel, and then proceed to punch it the rest of the way down... then i dont feel the lag

since im very familiar with the car, i know how to avoid it... but it is kind of annoying sometimes

maybe try the easy ECU reset? that might cause lag since it adapts to driving habits and if you suddenly floor it, it takes a second to respond?

Just a theory. I think i have the same lag too

Having the ssame problem

Having the same lag too any updates on how to fix it. Maybe the valve covers it's leaking oil but not too much or maybe the intake filter?
