no more Brembos
Re: no more Brembos
My take on the issue (regardless of what a sales person from Grubbs posts on Grubbs website) is that there are not any complaints and Infiniti was just looking for a reason. Albeit a lie, it sounds good enough to sell.
Bottom line, the Brembo's have a bling factor, they work well, and are wanted by almost everyone. Getting rid of them only pads Infiniti's pockets with bigger profits, even if they have to replace your stock pads and rotors every other oil change.
Damn, no rolleyes feature on G35driver...

Truthfully, the G35 doesn't need an aluminum hood, speed sensitive steering, 18" wheels with high performance tires, a 280HP (now 298HP) high performance engine and other high performance goodies, but that's what I paid for, and gosh darn I paid for the Brembos. I paid for a High Performance GT Sports Car, and that's what I want, and high performance brakes are part of that package.
The stopping power from the non-Brembo equipped is not all awesome. As I indicated, the brakes are far to grabby, and they lack feel IMO. They are not a brake I would feel confident about while driving aggressively or if I were involved in a dangerous situation.

Both the non Brembo Z and G's stop quite quickly. Results seem close enoug that conditions during the test may really be the difference. That being said, short of having to make multiple repeated emergency high speed stops, I doubt you will ever notice a difference in actual results. As far as grabbiness, that's what brakes are designed to do. Grab. And it's subjective anyways. Drive it long enough and you will adapt. Go back to a car with brakes that aren't as grabby and you'll find yourself thinking the brakes are unresponsive.

Re: no more Brembos
So if the G does not get Brembo's does this mean that the Z wont have them as an option either and what about the Altima SE-R and spec V model which is using modified brembo system. I never saw any one complain about it but I like to see where the complaints came from.
Re: no more Brembos
I don't see why anyone would NOT want the Brembos in this argument? Ok the stock brakes are fine blah blah blah .. But does all the other nice cars with high performance calipers need them (ie AMG, STi, EVO, R34, Porsche)? The point is Infiniti is taking them out (if this is even true) for some reason, and it's probably to save money. It sucks for the 05 owners, IMHO.

Re: no more Brembos
i love the brembos. this was one thing i was looking forward to when getting this car, and so far i haven't had any problems.
the argument here is the performance factor, and these aren't the highest line-up of brembos IMO. either way, they're still brembos = )

Not a 1/4 strip, a road race track, like Texas World Speedway.

The indy cars race on PIR once a year. It does have a 1/4 track but that's not my cup of tea. http://www.portlandraceway.com/map1.asp

Re: no more Brembos
I've had the advantage of having both the OEM brakes and the Brembos. It's true that when I first purchased my 6MT sedan, the brakes felt grabby--but after a grand total of 2 days my reflexes had adjusted and it was a non-issue. The car stopped on a dime and for around-town use there was no fade.
I decided to buy a used set of Brembos (with upgraded pads and better brake fluid) and installed them myself. When I took them out for the first test drive I thought there was something wrong with them! They didn't seem grabby enough!! I actually had a friend help me to some stopping distance tests to assure myself that they did indeed bring the car to a stop as quickly as the OEM brakes. But, as before, after 2 days my reflexes adjusted and I'm used to it. Now when I get a loaner car the OEM brakes seem too grabby again.
I bought my Brembos used with the idea that when I sell the car I'd be able to sell the brakes for almost as much as I paid for them. To be totally honest with myself, for the way I use the car they are no better than the OEM brakes would be with the same quality of pad. But DANG! they look a lot nicer and I get tons of compliments about my car now that I never got before (even though I had already dumped thousands of dollars into modifying the car prior to getting the Brembos).
