no more Brembos
Re: no more Brembos
"Have you ever raced at a track? Yes or No question."
Yes Gingerman Raceway in Michigan about once a month. The brakes didnt fade once, no warped rotors or boiled brake fluid. The C5 Vette with me, however, did have brake fluid boil over. Not that it proves anything big but found it funny.

Re: no more Brembos
I don't see why anyone would NOT want the Brembos in this argument? Ok the stock brakes are fine blah blah blah .. But does all the other nice cars with high performance calipers need them (ie AMG, STi, EVO, R34, Porsche)? The point is Infiniti is taking them out (if this is even true) for some reason, and it's probably to save money. It sucks for the 05 owners, IMHO.
Okay not wanting to start an argument but I'll chime in from the guy who isn't really up on the technical side of cars. I really could care or less if the Brembo's are there or not. I had always assumed they were just for the 6MT anyway and I'm getting the AT. If the Brembo's were an option and they were more than say $200 then they would probably be the first thing cut off my wishlist. I don't need special brakes, because like one guy said I'm not taking the car to the track.
As far as the bling factor it's aight, I don't really look at other peoples cars and say "WOW! Check out them brakes!!!!". Plus I'm not really a fan of throwup yellow.
What I can't understand are people who say they won't buy the car because the Brembo's won't be there. So the engine performance, styling, new 19" rims, motorized navi, redesigned interior and pricing lose out to some brakes?
That's crazytalk..............

Truthfully, the G35 doesn't need an aluminum hood, speed sensitive steering, 18" wheels with high performance tires, a 280HP (now 298HP) high performance engine and other high performance goodies,

I hear what you're saying, but all those really add to the performance of the car, even in street driving.
Aluminum hood? Saves weight which improves handling, acceleration, and braking. The G is too heavy as it is, and could use all the weight savings it can get.
Speed sensitive steering? Well, most cars have that these days, but it certainly helps steering feel.
18" wheels and performance tires? Dramatically improves handling, and braking performance.
280hp engine? Obviously, the more power the better - better acceleration, etc.
But the Brembos don't really do much different than the base brakes, except being a little more durable and fade resistant on the track, and offering more linear pedal feel.
Brembos are great brakes for sure, but there's more to their name than anything else. Face it, if you had the same brakes on the car, but they weren't painted gold and didn't say "Brembo" on the calipers, people wouldn't be that impressed with them compared to the base G brakes.

This is very true. But that's pretty much the reason they are there. Who can say that the Brembos don't add an aggressive touch?

Great find deadmanincbh! I read an abreviated version of the same thing in the Oct '04 edition of Road & Track. If the Brembo's were so BAD, why would they put them, on these high profile, halo cars? Where did you get this info....from the Nissan News site?

I just remembered the the RX-7 FD, the Supra Mark IV, and the 300ZX all had four piston front brakes (I'm pretty sure). However, they were not fancy at all. Most people don't really notice them.

Rolleyes back to you for making up stupid comments like these. You got a poor reputation you know that? I been reading alot of posts from you lately, and alot of roll eyes as well.

...Speaking of making “a poor reputation” for yourself. Geesh, can't I voice my opinion about liking the Brembos w/o you getting all hormonal on me? Your opinion about ME does not belong in this thread. You are personally attacking me, not my opinion. This is crossing the line and breaking form rules.
This is my statement again for you to reread…
In reply to:

My take on the issue (regardless of what a sales person from Grubbs posts on Grubbs website) is that there are not any complaints and Infiniti was just looking for a reason. Albeit a lie, it sounds good enough to sell.
Bottom line, the Brembo's have a bling factor, they work well, and are wanted by almost everyone. Getting rid of them only pads Infiniti's pockets with bigger profits, even if they have to replace your stock pads and rotors every other oil change.
Damn, no rolleyes feature on G35driver...

The rolleyes comment was directed toward Infiniti for making the decision to remove a feature that I perceive of being of value, not you. Why does everyone take my posts so damn personal? I did not put you down, degrade you, or make inflammatory statements about you or your opinions, I just stated my opinion and got attacked by you for it.
To top it off G35_TX goes on to attack other posters who we all know have raced on a track (if we've been around long enough). People like Z06ified and Al503 who have dropped big money in their cars for track purposes. Al has spent over $20,000 track prepping his G35, so why attack him for having an opinion that's different from yours?
One suggestion, go back and reread this thread in its entirety and see if you're over reacting...
The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!

Re: no more Brembos
FYI, I never attack anyone except you. I only asked someone else if they went to the track. You on the other had, half your posts are full of non-sense. And you do have a poor rep already on this forum.
I will be the one to leave this discussion now. Have a nice day. And BTW, you broke the forum rules first, in other posts you have made to other people in the past. So why try to push it towards me? Nah don't answer that, because we don't need this childish type of arguement on this forum.

"As far as the bling factor it's aight, I don't really look at other peoples cars and say "WOW! Check out them brakes!!!!"."
hahahaha, I completely agree. Does anyone think sales will drop because they're omitting these? It will probably make the vehicle more profitable & as a public company that's kind of the objective. I like how any time a company (whose objective is to make $$$) makes a change to be more profitable they're just greddy, but then if they don't they make poor business decisions. Talk about a catch-22.
And if you are going to be doing bank jobs or going to the track as an enthusiast, you can still get aftermarket brakes (brembos included) you know. It's not like you can never ever have brembo's on your g35 again.

Re: no more Brembos
i stopped reading about 3/4ths the way down so if i repeat anything, i apologize.
i love the brembos on my car. the look and feel is good for me.
i think a reason why they might be getting rid of it due to these 'problems' is because people bring in their car complaining about brake dust or brakes squealing causing the dealer to replace or fix em. that jsut costs more money for the dealer. more expenses less profit? don't know. maybe they really are just cutting back on the 05's. who knows, just my thoughts.

Re: no more Brembos
You know what is odd if the G35 is not going to get Brembos because of complaint and stuff but then why is the Z still have, hell they even added a package to the convertable for its anniv. to give it Brembos. Odd isnt it?
Re: no more Brembos
Actually they have no idea if they are keeping them on the Z yet. None of the Z owners actually know till later.

Re: no more Brembos
I don't know the specifics what size the brakes are getting upgraded to but all G35 brakes are getting upgraded and the BREMBOs are being left out.
That's the news from corporate. Exactly why they are taking the BREMBOs out is anyone's suggestion.
I think the BREMBOs look hot. I think the 5AT stops well enough...but BREMBOs just look hot.

Re: no more Brembos
As far as looks, the new 2005 Coupes have a orange/gold caliper that appears similar in color to the Brembo's.
When the pics were first posted, I wondered why they didn't say Brembo's but now we know they're gone but Inifinti wanted to keep the "look"

Re: no more Brembos
That gold color is not the caliper, it's the brake pad's backing plate. From the looks of the pic, and from what we now know, it looks like the 2005 cars with have a larger rotor, a 2 piston front caliper.
