no more Brembos

Well, another forum is confirming that there will be no more brembos due to customer complaints. It's really too bad. Even though I have a 5AT, I know that many non-G35 drivers were impressed by the brembos on the 6MT.

"Continuing complaints (they do listen) regarding the pads and calipers was simply unacceptable. The problem was that Brembo seemed unconcerned and were not moving fast enough to solve the problem.

The answer to the was was that Infiniti has developed a new caliper and braking system that should exceed the Brembo system. At least they won't be dealing with a third party system."

Re: no more Brembos

Basically they realized it was another place they could cut costs because they are spending more money on wheels, interior changes and the added horsepower.

It doesn't get much better than Brembo, ESPECIALLY from factory. Too bad for the people who didn't jump on the 04's.

Re: no more Brembos

If it's true, then it's a sacrifice I'll hafta make for the 05. Unfortunately, there's no definitive answer to the "brembos or no brembos" question, until we hear it from Infiniti, or see an 05 6mt's brakes. This whole rumor could have been started by some crooked salesguy trying to make a sale on an 04, posted by one of his sales victims, and propagated/paraphrased throughout the forums so that it looks like it comes from different 'sources'. Anyways, I'm not one to believe a salesman or any anonymous (Infiniti or not) representative, but even if it's true there are also a lot of improvements (and they were officially announced, too!).

Re: no more Brembos

I have no problems with my Brembos. Something doesn't make sense with that "continuing complaints" comment. I thought people had issues with low pad life with the base brakes, not the Brembos??

Re: no more Brembos

The thread is on Freshalloy.com. Go see it for youself. It also prompted another thread there, an informal poll about "Brembo problems", which after about 20 posts has come up with basically nothing (dust, occasional squealing...*yawn*). Looks like a cost cutting move on Infiniti's part, and a suspiciously bogus attempt to link it with the very real problems of the '03-'04 non Brembo brakes.

well, obviously nissan/infiniti's official word is not going to be, "we are no longer putting brembos in the G35 to help us cut costs and increase profits on the cars"!

What car in the under $35K range comes with brakes that can handle track duty?

Well this sucks. Guess I wont get an 05 then and when the GT-R comes out it will prob be like $50K (out of my price range)... so looks like my Brembo equipped 03 and I will be together for awhile. Pay more for the 05's and dont even get the Brembos..what a rip off.

Love my Brembos. They never squeaked and they don't put off that much dust. People always stare at them when I'm cruzing down the toll road.

Re: no more Brembos

I would not have bought my Coupe were it not for the Brembos. Theiy're an excellent system, with no fad that I've experienced, and in your face stopping power. The non-Brembo G35s that I've driven have no brake feel and are far too grabby. REST IN PEACE. The Brembos will sorely missed.

BTW, The 2005 Nissan 350Z Track was announced as not being available until December, much later than the other models. I wonder if the brakes are the reason

Re: no more Brembos

I have yet to run my G35C on the track, but the Brembo's on it look exactly the same as the Brembo's that came on my 951 Porsche, which I did run on the track. What do you mean when you say that the Brembo's "don't deliever the level of 'track performance' that Brembo is typically known for (such as on the Porsche 911 and other vehicles)?" Did you get brake fade? Did you boil the fluid after a few runs? Or do the G35 Brembo's not feel firm? On my 911, I didn't get great feel until I put stainless steel brake lines on....this eliminated the swelling under pressure of the stock lines and firmed up the 'feel'. Even then, after many hot laps, I still boiled my fluid and had fade. That is why there are brake cooling ducts available for the 911.....I haven't put them on yet because I found the secret to getting around the track was in being smooth in the correct line and not using the brakes as much.
