Based upon my study of my Silvia light up doorsills, you only need the following to pull off what you guys are trying to accomplish.

Firstly, cut a long rectangular section out of the doorsill where you want the infiniti lightup symbol.

Replace that rectangular section with a piece of plexi or other see through hard plastic.

Get a decal made in rectangular section with the name infiniti and ask that the decal guy give you the surround not the actual decal cutout.

Stick said decal onto the rectangular section of the plastic so only light that can shine through the clear lense is the word infiniti.

Get this Flat light in the same size as the rectangular section and install it underneath the doorsill. http://www.beingseen.com/flatlite.htm

Hook up light to your interior light wiring.

There is your light up door sill.

The real hard part is to remove the aluminum from your doorsill to make the cutout. However, since your are not trying to cutout a name its still less work.

 

I was working on something similar on the Z's but stopped due to I found out that piece where the door sills are tends to fill up with water that could cause issues later with the set up..

Does the G do anything similar??

If not then I could possibly do them.
I had actually already made a complete piece stamped out of aluminum for them that could easily be converted..
