Restoring Original Shine

I have a 2003 Coupe, It is IP and the brightness of the pain is fading away, I was looking for a way to restore the original shine of the factory paint job, my best bet is to get the car detailed right? How much should I expect to pay and does anyone have any reccomendations for good places to get it done in the NJ area? (Morris County)
Thanks alot.

Is it possible in the last 6 years someone has asked the same question....?

Reggae, I recall last week you mentioned that you'd learned to do a SEARCH rather than making all these worthless threads. Void this thread and try doing a SEARCH, you'll be supprised how much information is out there if you'll just try....

Lol, what's with creating so many threads? Spend a couple days reading in the Detailing section and you'll learn A LOT. You'll learn to detail your car yourself.

Just an FYI... I think the Search feature on this forum SUCKS!

I just did a search for detailing... first few results are as follows...

1. Aggressive Wheels & Stretched Tires: Post 'Em Up!
2. The "Look what i got TODAY!" Thread!
3. *SOLVED* Engine Startup Clanking Noise, 2005 G35 Coupe. (With Video)
4. Sticky: *Official* G35 Modded Sedan Picture Thread
5. Sticky: October Minnesota Chat Thread

WTF kind of results are those for the keyword "detailing"?

Youre prob looking at $100-400 for a professional detailing.

DIY, wash then clay your car. Get a buffer, glaze then wax, easy as that.

This is just so much bull ****, thread that has no use to anyone when the answers are here on DRIVER if you're smart enough to look for them. We have a section called CARE & DETAILING, is it possible you might find some answers there.

+ 1 on that.
We also have a new breed of people buying used, high mileage coupes that want to make them pretty for $02. G35's aren't cheap like that.

I'm 18, I have been working in a hardware store monday-friday every day after school for the past 4 years to be able to afford my car and insurance, I have always loved g35's but I couldn't afford a new g35 or Rays or Brembos, I hope that someday I will be able to afford all of this stuff and a Ford GT40 but for now I'm just workin with what I got man.

LOL. Dude, you sound like a Bimmer owner. Face it--all cars depreciate and become affordable to the masses. I bought mine 2-years used for almost half the price of brand-new, and 3 years later, I'd pay "$02" to make it pretty. Although, it's 6 years old now and still looks good.... Older, high-mileage G's don't need that much to make them pretty, as long as they were well taken care of....

Reggae,
Instead of busting you up let me help you out.
It all depends on how rough your car is.
Try clay barring. Try a panel. If its not enough shine you may have to get a bit extreme.

OPTION 1:

Clay bar
Medium cut compound
Fine Cut compound
polish
carnuba.

OPTION 2
(BE CAREFUL you can take your clearcoat off but is very effective if done right also you will need a lot of time)
Wet sand entire car (1500-2000 grit)
Heavy compound
Med compound
Light compound
Polish
Carnuba

I'm in the process of doing option 2 right now. Took me a day to get wetsand, heavy cut and med cut. This will take out all surface level scratches and swirls. You are sanding down clear coat so be careful not to go thru. I will post pictures soon so you can see how effective it is.
