Drop...

I'm looking to drop my coupe and I'm wondering what you all reccomend for the best ride quality/look. I have the 18's on there and probably wouldnt go any higher than 19's if i went aftermarket. Are the Tein S-techs good? H-techs? and what are the differences? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Drop...

My drop were in factory specs. I witnessed the technicians on the aligment machine and everything was green.(i know, pretty good explanation right)

It's only been a few days since I had them installed. I figure they will be fully settled by the time my HRE's are built.

I bought spc toe bolts just incase of camber issues, but the tech said everything is copacetic. I'll keep you guys updated when I have my rims put on.

Re: Drop...

sorry bro, the drop is 1.1 in the front and 1 in the back.
i used to be able to fit 3 fingers w/o the drop, now just 2 finger tips... my girl, who is "car dumb" even noticed the more aggressive stance. she said it looked nice and sexy, not riced out.
and yes, the alignment was way off. (red, not green)

Re: Drop...

eibachs will not meet factory specs, trust me. it ate up my friends rear tires like crazy and he had to spend hundreds on a complete rear camber kit. The ride is also very shitty too. I've heard this from many ppl.

Re: Drop...

I was going to get JIC coilovers for the track but ended up going with the Eibach Pro's for now -- and I would recommend them... and not just for the looks but also for the performance -- I got consistently better lap times at the track with them.

I would say the ride is great with them... but that's a subjective thing -- I prefer a more "sporty" ride, whereas the stock ride balances "sporty" with luxury/ comfort (as it should if Infiniti wants to appeal to the broadest possible market)

Unfortunately your rear camber will be slightly out of spec with them (or anything else that gives a similar drop).

Rear Axle camber factory spec says -0.67 degrees/ + - 0.50 degrees.
After installing the Eibach's, my camber was Left -1.92 degrees and Right -1.96 degrees.

My Toe was also off (should be 0.11 degrees/ + - 0.11 degrees) and after the Eibach's I was 0.29.

After letting the springs settle, I went for an alignment and the guy adjusted my camber as close to spec as possible... which was -1.75 degrees. Still slightly out of spec but I don't feel like I'm losing grip and I haven't seen any feathering etc. yet.
In fact, after the alignment the car drove beautifully.

The alignment put the toe back within spec at 0.06 Left and 0.05 right. It also corrected the thrust angle (which should be exactly zero... after Eibach's it was 0.07 deg. and after alignment it was back to zero again).

I'll likely get a camber kit but the car feels so good now I may just leave it until next spring despite it being out of spec... we'll see...

Re: Drop...

I have been researching this as well.
It depends on what you are going for.....
I just want it a little lower to reduce wheel gap , but not harsh ride, scraping, or camber issues.
From all the input I have gotten so far.....
I think I am going with the Tein H Tech for the 350Z.
Approx. .9" -1" drop w/o alignment issues.

Re: Drop...

My eibachs did. I don't know about your friends car, but my car rides fine. I was very happy that I didn't lose any ride comfort.
