I’m curious to know how many of you have actually experienced this water/grease streak problem or how many have no steaks at all. Sometimes I get grease streaks, however most of the time it’s just a bunch of vertical water streaks after the car is wet. A real pain to keep the window looking clean and is this really necessary for a car of this price!

Can the dealers actually fix the problem (your experiences please)? I’ve read some posts where it basically improved very slightly or the problem just came back in time. I know there is a TSB whereby you have to replace the original glass “stabilizer” felt with new pieces from a stopper kit; this also means removing the entire door glass. My concerns are having the dealer rip open my door panels etc, then only to maybe fix the problem.

Let me know your experiences.

My car didnt have the grease streaks until I brought in the car to have the pop/tick TSB performed which involved changing both window regulators. Since then, I've gotten like 3 grease streaks on both windows. Brought it in again and they performed the stabilizer felt TSB, but that didnt help at all. In fact, I'm convinced the streaks are worse. I'm contemplating whether or not I want to bring it in for a third try cause everytime they tear my door down, I get the car back with all kinds of scratches and marks all over the panels.

Its not a huge problem but it is annoying. Although, my old BMW used to have the streaks too.

 

I've got them also. Like ck600sl, they're more annoying than a big problem.

I'd rather live with them then let the dealer install the scratches and grease stains on the panel and seats.

 

All kinds of marks and scratches on your door panels plus the problem not fixed, this is terrible!

 

i get the same grease streak on my rear windows in my 04 sedan.

is this a problem when u wash the car and roll ur windows up and down and u see the water marks?

how do the streaks look?

i sometimes get these horizontal lines but i wipe it off and it's clean.

 

Yes it's only a problem if the car is wet from a wash or rain. If the window is lowered then raised back, you see streaks of water and slight grease (at times) on the inside of the window.

However if I let it completely dry, then use my window their is no streaks at all. Obviously I would have to delibrately not use my window in the rain.

Well I never really had ths problem with my previous car. The actual grease streaks only come from time to time, it's not consistent. Water streaks all the time.

However if everyone is general is getting the vertical water streaks (which is basically what I wanted to know), then I suppose its normal. I may just leave it as I don't want the dealership creating extra damage when trying to fix.
