The Bose system
#16
Bose isn't bad imo but it isn't anywhere close to what you can do with a budget setup even. The only reason I haven't totally ditched the system is because I don't want to wire another speaker up for the voice navi right now. But, the front speakers are on my next - to go - mod list, already have the amp ready and the preouts tapped in the rear just need my speakers, wire, and a power and ground splitter.

Same here. My only complaint.. I'm beginning to rattle the car apart. The driver exterior door handle is starting to rattle pretty bad so I may dynamat the car. Do you think dynamat will help with this issue or should I just go about the car with adhesive foam, rubber or what not? Who all do you listen to Dante?

Personally I don't consider big sub's and huge power amps to be a 'sick' system. Sure they would do good in a system competition, but not as a good sounding system.
I have Kicker components up front with MTX 5 1/4 and MTX 6x9's in the rear. Powering them I have a Audison SRx4.
My sub is a single MTX 510 powered by a MTX 4001.
It's not the greatest set up in the world, but it offers clean bass, awesome mid's and highs. Sound reproduction is far superior than the Bose... and the bose can't do bass for ****.

I used to have a 1998 Toyota Camry with a JBL sound system that came with the premium package. After 10 years it still sounded 10x better than the Bose system which sounds thin and muddled.
I'm not an audiophile so I don't know how exactly to describe the lacking sound, but I can tell you I've driven a Honda CR-V, Lexus RX, various BMW's, and the Bose system in my Infiniti is by far the worst.

i think the question is.. how many of you still use the cd?.. i have installed the usa spec (see below) and have been using my ipod since (from the 2nd gen nano to the 2nd gen itouch)... it's been 3 years now since the radio was replaced and everything is fine, i haven't used the cd... no a/c, radio problems anymore (yet?)...

I consider myself an audiophile and I'm happy enough with the Bose system to keep it. It's a PITA to do a double-din anyway and I have better use for my money (performance mods).
The Bose system sounds good, but it isn't fantastic. The base hits pretty hard and it's clean and crisp and has great high's, but i think the lower mid range is a bit muddy, if you really listen for it. But again, it's still a good system and I'm not really complaining.
We have an E60 M5 with the premium sound (BMW Logic7) and that thing is nuts (it's digital - even has a equalizer you can adjust). The high's are so crisp and clean that it almost brings a tear to my eye. Mid is great and base is plenty powerful. The only issue is that the base in this car is not clean enough (and this is where I think the Bose in the G shines). The M5's base always acts like a gong - just huge "booms." Some times base is a quick "thump" - and even "thumps" in songs turn into "booms" in the M5 (it's like a $1500 option for this sound system btw) - in the G, the "thumps" stay as "thumps" and "booms" stay as "booms."
I hope all that just made sense.
We also have an OEM Alpine system in our truck ($500 upgrade - 500w system with 10" factory sub), and the base isn't boomy enough in that. I personally think it needs a 12" sub.
None of this junk compares to our Klipsch home theater, but that's a different story.

As said before, I still think the system in the G is decent. But overall clarity.. I think my stock Prelude speakers with a Kenwood Excelon deck sounded cleaner.
My dad has a Lexus LS430 with a Mark Levinson system. Now, I haven't played with the settings on it much.. but it kind of sucks. Seems very bland to me..
