so i wake up today and decide to drive up to big bear lake here in sunny southern california where i usually snowboard in the winter. took the coupe through the twisties uphill then caught up to what looked like a very tall 3-series taking the curves with more gusto than i. upon gaining on him, i see he is a 325xi which explains his very aggressive turns. the coupe held her own as i down-shifted through the hairpins and kept the desired line as though on rails. can't wait for her new shoes to arrive then the grip should be even better.

going downhill was the highlight of the day. watched some snowboarding contest at bear mountain then headed home. dusk was setting in and the air was getting cooler. man, i haven't felt the upper 50's in a long time! been so hott here in so cal...so as the downhill starts, i put on my initial d soundtrack and just cruise passing suburbans and slow moving cars. tried to keep my balance and not push the car beyond my driving abilities and made it down the mountain with a huge smile on my face!

The AWD series are not particularly impressive on the corners, or the straights. They tend to understeer through the corners while making lots of noise. A stock G35 should have no problem taking out the xi around corners.

I have yet to set off the VDC extensively on the mountain runs though, guess I am too wimpy.
