Am I compensating? No. My daily driver is a 5spd. Backwards, huh? Not really. Even the Saturn Sky Redline which came with the auto tranny was quicker than the Redline manual... wtf? Yeah, it didn't lose [as much] boost during shifts.
Don't start getting distracted, we're not really comparing our tranny to that of a Lambo, GTR, or other supercar... that'd be plain stupid. But the 5AT, when built can shift nearly as fast, and always more accurately than an manual of any kind. You think I've ever missed a shift, or used that in any situation as an excuse? Nope... "Well, I ran so slow on that one because I missed a shift..." Bull****, not happening here.
In a G35 we do not need dual clutches. There are plenty of guys who are running single and TT setups with built 5AT's running 500, 600, 700whp (if there weren't then why do GTM and other's make a 5AT upgrade to handle so much) that are out-shifting 99% of the manual drivers out there.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Turbos can actually benefit from Auto, especially a slow spooling one. This way, there's not point where you let off the throttle, and there is constant boost.
Superchargers, not so much.
