Switching from synthetic "blend" to full synthetic

Mobil 1 may not be the BEST synthetic on the market, but for the price I certainly believe it is. When I sold my Z it had 125K miles on the clock, when I pulled the pan to change the rear main seal the inside of the pan was like new....zero sludge. The label on Mobil 1 says 100% Synthetic, how can it NOT be? Considering the cost factor Red Line & Amsol cost twice what Mobil 1 does. If it wasn't for my OCD I'd still be using Mobil1 ....

Mobil 1 is NOT a group IV synthetic. Been discussed many times.
Mobil 1 is not in the same league as Amsoil. Amsoil is a group IV sythentic.
If you changed your oil regularly, even the cheapest dino oil would keep your engine clean like that. It's not really a tesimonial of the oil's quality. It's more to your diligent care to change the oil regularly.

Look at the analysis of the castrol dino oil. If you used that, you would have most certainly had a good, clean motor at 125k.
Unless there's something technically preventing you from stating that. Which I'd like to hear about.
My bro ran dino oil on his Integra GSR. Probably didn't even pay close attention to the changes. At 75k it was sparkling clean. Not 125k like you but you get the point.

German Castrol 0W30. This is pretty much the best oil for our engines. UOA results prove it.
Don't just buy Mobil 1 because it's a popular oil... do your research and you'll probably come to the same conclusion that a good batch of people over here have come to, which equates to German Castrol being the best for our cars.
May your car live to see lots of happy miles with GC!

OP - you can change to synth, and you can extend the drain intervals. Depending on what filter you use, you may want to change the filter only halfway through. I use Amsoil and change about every 6200 miles (10,000 km). That is a very conservative interval considering Amsoil recommends up to 25,000 miles between drains.
