Check Engine light on

So I was driving in the 515 and suddenly my 'service engine light' came on. I was praying that it wasn't anything huge because this G in only a few weeks new to me (my '04 got totaled on 4.21). I checked on here as soon as I got home and saw all kinds of crazy stories about how their car cut off while driving and then the light came on. I decided to take it by autozone and have them do a free scan, and thank God it was just throwing a fuel cap code! Something silly, I know. But if anyone else had the check engine light come in while driving and checked on here for any tips that might help point to what it could be coming on for - make sure to check that fuel cap sensor!

Do you need new brakes? When I changed mine, the light show on my dash turned off.

You must not know how to read. lol

He's just letting us know his problem was the fuel cap sensor that triggered the light.

I actually ran into this same issue a couple months ago. I was just glad to find out it wasn't a major internal problem with the engine itself.

For me it was nothing. Just didn't twist the cap enough times to be sure to seal it. Now I'm just more careful about twisting it a full 3 turns. No problem since.

Something in my exhaust constantly throws a code and turns the light on. Probably the hfcs. **** is annoying as hell.

Exclamation Scariest thing happened!

I have an '05 6MT coupe (bought it brand new) which has 40k miles on it, and my "service engine soon" light came on about 1.5 months ago.

It came on once before a while back, but the dealership simply reset it. I was driving today doing about 45 in third gear, and all of sudden my car completely shut off! I had NO IDEA what happened, but was safely able to pull over! Re-started the car perfectly fine and continued to drive.

I have absolutely no idea what happened. That's the FIRST time ever anything like that has happened. Any ideas out there?
