My G faster then others?
Re: My G faster then others?
It could also be your driving habits.............
If you tend to drive your car harder, it will be set that way in the ECU, therefore your car will respond to your needs accordingly.
If lets say, another 6MT does all local driving, and does not accelerate much to merge into traffic, then his driving technique would cause the ECU to match that type of driving and therefore technically would slow his overall performance until he changed his driving habits...........
I do mostly highway driving, with little or no hard acceleration. from time to time, I like to run it out and I can feel the difference in its overall performance immediately.....thats why many here on the board have done the ECU reset from time to time.......
You could always get a stronger performer than the rest though, that is very possible, along with your driving habits.
Every time I take my car in for service and I get a loaner, it always seems to me to be faster in acceleration as well. I think that is due to the fact that most people tend to drive the loaners alot harder than they would their own cars. So, in doing so the cars ECU is programed for a lot more vigorous driving style....
My .02., I could be way off base, but it may contribute to your situation....either way Your car is still faster!!!!!!!!

yes, maybe you have a factory freak! We had a dyno day with our camaro's (ss) about 2 years ago, and all the bone stock '02 camaro's dynoed between 312-317 rwhp, except my friends factory freak....he dynoed 334 rwhp..talk about a factory freak. It's be interesting to see what you dyno.

Re: My G faster then others?
That's it!!!! Fights on!!!!! JK LOL....well i ordered everything before the meet that the current pic was taken at, hoping to get everything installed in time.....well, too make a short story long..lol....I ran out of time and weather, so I couldn't do it. But yes, everything is on now! But I don't know if I have a current pic, that's a good question! Looks like I'll be taking some photos! I am trying to remember if I have any good ones from the last meet. I don't remember taking pics of my G then. Here is a crappy one, don't mind the bugs, they kinda collected on the bumper at 120 on Ocean Pkwy, it's the Long Island version of the Pacific Coast Hwy lol! I will attached to the next post.
Re: My G faster then others?
I am having some difficulties posting the pic, I added 2 new ones to my profile. One was taken at night the other head on during the day. I will get more up soon. Thanks for compliments!
Re: My G faster then others?
The difference in pick-up could be attributed to the car's ECU. Everyone drives their car differently from the moment they get it from the dealership. Some baby their cars, some don't. If you drive the car hard, they car will respond better than compared to those who drive like a grandma. The computer takes this into account and programs the best fuel map possible. This is why when you get a new mod, it is recommended to reset the ECU, so that you can recieve the best possible power and performance out of the mod.

Re: My G faster then others?
I thought that all the ECU's respond the same at full throttle... but I kinda noticed the same thing with my car. After a meet we all did some spirited driving... I was in the back and I kept having to let off the gas a little to stay off the other G's butts in front of me. With the lead cars getting the jump I expected them to pull away...

Re: My G faster then others?
It's easier for those other drivers to drive your car and then say "Yours is just faster than mine" rather than to admit "You're a better driver than me". You guys should have switched cars and then raced each other and see what happens.
The whole "one motor produces more than another" deal is complete BS. There are other variables, such as tire wear, tire pressure, A/C on or off, etc. but every G35C, assuming they have similar mileage, is producing the same amount of horsepower as the next G35C. Yeah, some engines may be performing better than others (based on the way you broke your engine in), but the difference is no more than 1 horsepower (unnoticeable) and 1mpg (again unnoticeable). We'll all get different gas mileages and 0-60 and 1/4 times because we're all in different cars with different variables, regarding outside temperature, tire pressures, tire wear, overall weight of the car (how much gas is in the tank, how many occupants and how much they weigh, whatever random stuff you have in your car, etc.), driving style, etc.
Basically there are just too many variables to make a hard conclusion on this, but I guarantee you that from the factory, all G's ARE created equal!! =)

Re: My G faster then others?
Nope. All factors considered, about 1 out of 10 motors tends to have significantly better power while 1 out of 10 tends to be significantly lower. The 8 others tend to hover somewhere in between putting out a much more similar output. When I had my 1st 240sx(S13), I ran a 15.7 pretty much stock. Magazines generally pulled off 16's. One guy pulled off a 15 flat 1/4 mile in his bone stock 240sx(S13). When I had my S14(pre-turbo) it ran 16's. I saw a guy run 15.2 in his S14 with nothing but a muffler (and only the muffler) and a filter at the same track 2 runs before went. Keep in mind this may not be a result of good or bad break-in but perhaps the loose side of factry tolerances and such (bearing, piston-wall clearance, etc.) Many race cars are built with looser tolerances to free up some additional power. This provides less friction but you end up with more noise and quicker wear. Dynos should show the differences when you have a extraordinarily powerful motor.
