I speak from experience.
Before you do that sell me the front bumper chin spoiler and the under tray

it definately will be. we had a flood 2 summers ago and had a half dozen cars come in flooded. all but one was totalled. the one was a g20 and the customer paid along with his ins to have it fixed. that had minor water intrusion.

if its fresh water you should be ok. i bought an 09 g37 from an insurance auction where the water had gotten halfway up the bottom of the seats. i only had to change the driver and pass seat computers (located on the underside of the seats) because the water had gotten in them and became trapped and rusted the inside of some of the relays. some of the power seat functions would work and some wouldnt. they were 500 a pop to replace. water had also gotten on the body control unit located on the pass kick panel, but it didnt affect it anything. i took it out and cleaned out the little bit of sediment in it anyway though. i dont know if the trans is sealed on yours like it is on the g37, but you might want to check that for water as well as the rear diff. engine should be ok. as long as all the electrical components inside the car had dryed off before you started the car and turned on anything the it should be ok.

as far as the insurance comp. totalling the car or not, who knows. the g37 i bought only had 94 miles on it, ran and drove fine, and the interior carpet was clean as new. only some of the power seat functions didnt work on it, but they totalled it anyway...go figure.

Wow, $2100 to replace a few thing? I'm from MA. I have had about an inch of fresh water in my Lexus and my INS co. Wanted to total it. I'm informed that interior water damage/ water remained over night = total lost. Take care

I took a 06 g35 I was looking to purchase to a local mechanic. He inspected the vehicle and saw rust to the upper fenders of the car. The trunk area holding the spare showed signs of rust.

The first thing he said to me was "If it were me, I would NOT buy this vehicle. Unless you are getting one HELLUVA deal, I would NOT buy this vehicle. It will have electrical nightmares in the future."

Take it as you will.

could it have been a salt water flood vehicle? either that or maybe the water stayed in it for a long period of time. also some of the untreated metal in the car will rust fairly easily. i've noticed that the metal plate inside the car where the steering column is mounted to the firewall is one of those spots.

Um...probably not. The vehicle was purchased in Louisiana, then sold in an auction and moved to Texas, so says the Carfax. There was also signs of rust in the under carriage and rocker panels.

But I don't know, I have no idea about rust, in general. I was just going by what the mechanic that inspected the car told me.
