Re: speeding ticket help please

if you do it on purpose, you will have some if not a majority of the responsibility if an accident should occur. It is in essense an intentional act. If you indeed have a legitimate excuse to have to brake, then that's another situation entirely. personally, I've always wondered what purpose it serves on the officer's part to tailgate so closely? They don't need to in order to effect a valid pace.

Re: speeding ticket help please

..OK, seems like a few of us got tickets this way? I myself got an 83 in a 55. But the cop was in an undercover Mustang GT!!
The cop was in the left lane, passing me at like 90 mph. So I decided, to catch up - not really racing - just to say, hey, my car can hang. Next thing I know the Mustang slows a bit and pulls behind me, and his friggin lights and sirens start goin. It seems to me like a bait and switch..... after all, the cop speeded to get me to speed. Is that legal?

A lot of you guys have to watch out for entrapment with driving. It's a thin line between legit, and a cop filling is "quota". I had a similiar instance where a cop was playing the push and go game with me as well. He managed to get me to blow an orange (yellow turning red) light. I immediately moved over to the right lane and slowed down. Next thing I know, the car goes through the light, seconds later the lights are flashing. Cop comes up to me asks for my reg and license and if I knew what I did. I replied in a very ticked off tone that I was busy watching him practically rub my bumper to push me through traffic that had I stopped for the light he easily would have ended up in my rear seat with me. He politely apologized, told me to have a nice day, and tore off.

It was a proud day for me, especially since I was pissed as is from fighting with my girl about bs just before that.

I got a ticket going 103 mph in a 65. I wouldn't waste your money hiring a lawyer. There's not much that they can do for you. You're most likely gonna have to see a judge and this ticket will count as 2 points on your record. If you get 4 points in a 12 month period, you'll have your license suspended. Since it was your first offense, I wouldn't be worried about getting your license suspended.

The evidence will be hard to dispute. You got caught speeding. Buy a Valentine 1 and that'll help prevent that from happening again. Show up to court. Dress nice. Be polite. Hopefully you're not too young (under 25). I doubt that you can ask for Traffic School (my judge laughed at me) but it won't hurt to ask. He might be leinient on you since it's your first offense. All a lawyer will do is stand next to you as you plead no contest. If you try to fight it, you'll be hit w/ a 250% penalty if you lose.

I always try to handle these myself before getting one of my lawyers invovled (I've got 3). Read this post, it should help. Remember that every state & county handles things a bit differently.

If you don't want to read all that then the synopsis is to move your court date up to ASAP.

Here's another thread too, not as good, but won't hurt to read it. https://g35driver.com/forums/showfla...&part=all&vc=1

Re: speeding ticket help please

"Quotas" in law enforcement have been illegal for decades.

What people often mistake for a quota is a "campaign." Several times per year states are given federal or state money to conduct "campaigns" for a specific reason, IE seatbelts, speeding, license plates, etc. It is alarming to us because all of a sudden we see double the police force on the streets and we assume that it's coming to some kind of deadline but this is a farse. The reason there are twice as many cops out is because the additional officers are being paid by the federal or state government as opposed to the town/city to help enforce the campaign.

The logic behind this being banned is that officers can not "find" crime where it doesn't exist. Crimes happen and police respond to them, promoting crime to "manufacture" or "produce" criminals is entrapment and is rightfully illegal.
