THe increase overall sound of accel. with PLENUM

Hey guys,

I am going to get a plenum in the near future, and am still researching a bit about it overalll... one question I've stumbled across is the sound that it adds (like how the ZTUBE helps sound roar past 3 K RPM and how the Popcharger adds a little whoosh sound)

Does the plenum help the G35 through a sound aspect? (not that it needs help anyways )

Thanks!

I have a V1 Crawford, only change in sound is at idle. At first I noticed it, but in short order it simply became a normal sound that doesn't register to me. Mine does not give out any induction noise at any rpm level, never has. I can also add it's one of the best money I've spent on the car to date.

My car sounded a little deeper and more hollow after adding the Crawford Plenum. The sound change was only under moderate (or more than moderate) throttle. Definitely another improvement over the stock setup.

Dennis, did you get your package yet? Send me a PM.

Ah, hehe, any other experiences w/ the plenum? THanks Todd & Gsedan

Curious as to other aspects aside from "performance" (I read the "what do our mods amount to" thread )

I didn't like the sound when I did that mod...I had to check for airleaks etc

"more hollow "? hmmm I don't know if I would like the sound of that. When I think of that term, I think of the hollow sounding 4 bangers. It's not like that is it?

Then I'd suggest you attend a local meet and hear it for yourself. On my car, with the intake and h/f cats the sound was no longer raspy and more hollow and deeper than with just the intake and h/f cats. Take that for what it's worth... and BTW, it's definitely not a bad sound IMO.

neff, only the people who have the plenum understand what you mean by the "hollow sound"

I've had people in my car (when I just was intake, plenum, cats) and tried to point out the sound to people IN the car and they didnt understand it. I miss that sound, it goes away (or atleast is muted) once the exhaust goes on.

Oh and I 100% agree with neff, the hollow sound is awesome.

A very good point EX250.

It is indeed a tough task to hear something you're just not use to. back when I was in a market for a plenum, I rode in two other persons' car and walked away not knowing what the real difference was ... wondering if the noise was actually from their aftermarket exhaust, etc. Rest assure, once you install the plenum on your car, you'd notice the difference right away.

I've got the Kinetix v4 and briefly the Crawford v1. The Kinetix v4 is most definitely louder than the Crawford v1 overall ... especially past 4k. It's an inviting kind of noise for me personally. It is nearly identical to the induction bark you hear with the JWT Pop-Charger, which I don't own. With the Crawford, the same bark was more subdued or not present at all. The valve-train noise is more readily audible at idle for both, with Kinetix being the most apparent.
