confusion regarding splash guards
confusion regarding splash guards
I wanted to order the complete set of splash guards from infinit-parts or everythingg35 and they claim its a easy no drilling install. But time and again I'm reading that members had to make a couple holes for both front and rear. Can someone please enlighten me?
Re: confusion regarding splash guards
Well, according to the Infiniti installation instructions that came with the splash guards, you do have to drill at least one hole for each of them. I did it a while back, so I don't remember exactly how many holes. But it was easy. Some have even got the holes drilled without taking off the wheels.

def have to drill...easy though...just did mine this weekend. I put the front lip too...that was a little harder, but not much...just a little time consuming.
2 G or not 2 G, there's no question!

Re: confusion regarding splash guards
I just installed mine this afternoon! Yes, you do have to drill - two each in rear and two each in front.
I only drilled one in the rear because the wheel was in the way of the other. It will be fine since there are two other (plus the adhesive tape) holding the rear.
For the front, I had to turn the wheel to drill one hole and jack the car to drill underneath.
Don't worry about drilling the holes - you are drilling into plastic and it is like butter. Very simple install - just take your time.
I also installed the OEM spoiler this past week -- so I was already in the drilling mood...

Re: confusion regarding splash guards
...Oh yeah, I got the guards and spoiler from everythingg35.com. The spoiler was overnighted (pleasantly surprised) and the guards took 4 days to arive from the date of order.
Quality --- Excellent!

Re: confusion regarding splash guards
I noticed that on about 25% of the cars on the dealer lot the double sided tape is failing. If its failing now, How is it going to look a year from now? I am also concerned about dirt and gunk getting caught between the gaurd and the car bumper scratching it. If you were to later remove the splash gaurds would there be a color difference? Questions to ponder....

Thanks guys I appreciate all the responses. I guess everythingg35 is suggesting that the double sided tape is suffice. But thanks for the heads up on it pealing off.

Re: confusion regarding splash guards
i'm gonna go get a strong doublesided tape. i installed my splashguards about a week ago, and my rear right one isn't sticking very well
Re: confusion regarding splash guards
I installed mine about 6 months ago & tape is holding suprisingly well. Be sure to wipe down the area with a wax remover or alcohol before applying the tape.
I also installed the front spoiler, which was a PITA. Splash guards were easy in comparison!

I haven't really though about the color fading, but I do question the double sided tape for the rear.
It took me a few fittings to get the tape to stick solid. I guess time will tell...... I also don't think it would be too much of a hassle to remove and retape in the future since the install was a breese.
