Im gonna assume you came from a (e36) being the majority of BFC members. I came from that chassis. And maint. on the G35 is a whole lot cheaper than even the older Bmw's. My G35 has 78K on it and I haven't had to replace a 1/4 of the thing I replaced on a bmw.

Ex: Bmw @ 60k miles; fuel pump, water pump, radiator, all suspension bushings, valve cover gasket, and it goes on.

G35: tires, tran/diff fluid, oil, drive belts, radiator flush... nothing serious; all regular maintenance work.

Mile for mile, between the two, G35 is a whole lot cheaper to maintain.

Oh and I forgot all the electrics and non-mechanical issues I've had with that car. It was a headache. I even had to replace one of the seatbelts.

DUDE, I DIDNT EVEN GO INTO THE 1/10 OF IT. you sound like u already know what i mean all too well. i would have to say, engine and transmission - great. everything else on that car(ive had an E36 325 convertible and 328iscoupe) was terrible. given they were older but still.

You give me hope with the cheaper maintenance talk lol

Congrats on the G!!
Wife had a BMW when we met in the late 80's....got rid of it shortly after we were married due to the costs to maintain it....after I bought parts and tuned it. Clutch was going south too. We were big Furd fans for years (still like stangs due to my first car being a 69 Mach), but switched to Nissans years ago. Have been very pleased!!!!
Did you find out about why the spacer is such a great mod? How the back cyls are starved for air due to design??

First thing that needs to be changed RIGHT NOW are the suspension bushings for the lower control arm and compression rod bushings. Doesn't matter if the stock ones are ok right now. They need to be changed anyway.

You can either get the SPL solid bushings from here for both the lower control arm and compression rods. http://splparts.com/store/product-li...pg1-cid14.html

Or

Get the Nismo hard rubber bushings for the lower control arm and solid compression rod bushings from SPL. http://www.mynismo.com/products/?id=5348

DO NOT GET polyurethane bushings.

Also get this if you have an MT. http://my350z.com/forum/product-anno...ial-brace.html

Also this. http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ne&prodid=4528
