Problem with Key Fob.

Hello, I am new to the forum, but not new to owning G. Had mine about 3 years now. I am just getting tired of a couple little things that do not work. One of which is my key fob. I bought my car used and it came with two key fobs. One works with the car and the other does not. I have replaced the battery in both switched batteries around and still only one (and the same one) works. Also the actual keys that I have do not work in the key lock hole to open the doors. Is this normal or is something going on here. I have never had a car with this kind of problem. Thanks for any help.

You can reprogram the key fob that isn't working. Searching should get you the instructions.

I thought that I would be able to, I talked to my local dealer and they want to charge me like 400 dollars to do it and told me that only a dealership could do it. I didn't think this was right and that is way to expensive for something that is probably like setting up the homelink on the car. Thanks for the help. If anyone has already posted on this or has the instructions they can link me to that would be great. I did use the search on the forum for this and nothing came up so sorry if I threaded something that has already been done.

if the physical keys do not work, nor have not worked. you may have been given a programed key fob without the proper cut key for your car.

Okay thanks for the thread twarsop I just went and followed there directions and the keyfob is working now. But I still have the problem with the physical key not unlocking the door in the door keyhole. I have 2 keyfobs (both now work thank you for the help) and two physical keys that both start the car. Neither of them will unlock the car from the outside however. This is so weird to me because I thought that the ignition and door key would be the same. Any suggestions?

That's weird about the keys not opening the doors. Does the key fit in the lock? Does it even turn?

I had the same exact problem. The battery in my key fob stopped working so I tried to unlock my door with the actual key and it didnt unlock....yet, the key starts the ignition. Very weird to me. So i had to have a friend take me to walmart so I could get a battery to get into my own car. smh

Very weird. Unfortunately I don't have a solution for that. However, to answer your question, if the key starts the car, it should open the door. Not extremely helpful. Have you tried calling a local dealership and see what they say?

It could be the door lock actuator.
