anyone work for insurance?
put on a carbon fiber hood last week. this morning went out to my car and someone stole it...they broke the sunroof window to get in and broke the driver side mirror. theres scratches everywhere from the glass. some seats are torn.....what do you insurance people suggest?
It depends on what insurance company you have and what coverage you have. Pull out your policy and review it. Or even easier, call them and tell them about your situation.
bro.. u should have called the police.. then ya insurance company... muck that it aint gonna go up if someone breaks into your car, but if it happen 3 times in a month is will go up..

Your insurance company will not usually take a claim of this nature if the police was not called out to make a report.
# Review your policy( you must have comprehensive coverage) or its not going to be coverd
#2 Call the cops and file a claim( insurance companys will ask you for this pronto)
#3 File the claim with your agent he will send a adjuster to asses the damage
#4 The paint, seats, mirror and glass should be fixed no problem ( minus depreciation)
hope this helps...(allstate agent)

I'm an auto claim adjuster and it will be covered under your Comprehensive policy. We have a cap of $1000 for aftermarket parts so the hood maybe covered as well. Like stated prior,,,you will need to file a police report but you just need to know what your deducible is.
Also note that you can file a police report after the fact - each insurance company is different about whether it is required and timelines. Best bet, give them a call. Also, from personal experience, what makes rates jump is the number and value of the claims - if you only have one, you are likely ok unless you are already in a higher risk category.
I know on my claims over the years I've never had anything depreciated, but my claims were largely related to DD cars without extensive mods.
Ask your adjuster for a list of places they accept direct bill from, and get at least a couple of estimates. Make sure your shop will warrant their work - good ones will warrant it for as long as you have the car.

thanks for the help guys. been calling and talking to so many people trying to work it out. filed with the cops called the insurance and the damages came to be around 6,000 bucks. lady said no paint job because my lips is scrathed and that its pre-existing and they will just buffer around the roof. parts ordered-new hood, driver side fender, new driver side door, replacing sunroof glass, and a new driver side seat. all this BS so some highschooler could make 2-300 off of my hood. coulda just took the hood and left no need to smash door and side mirror. guess thats life but sorry for the late reply and thanks for all the info guys really helped out. glad theres a site like this where you can really get some good info that will really help you in your situation
That's actually a pretty fair offer, but you might reengage with the shop on the bumper rash. Maybe they'll cut you a deal. Here in town it's $200-300 to get that repaired. Make sure the paint blends, and if it doesn't they may have to paint the whole ride. Check the paint in a variety of lighting too.
