Insane camber on stock suspension! Help!
Hey everyone,
I don't start many threads but I really need some input here. My coupe has some serious camber issues, on 100% STOCK suspension. I took it to an alignment shop yesterday and specs are as follows:
Front Left
Camber: -1.0
Toe: -.31
Front Right
Camber: -1.0
Toe:.26
Total Toe: .05
Rear left
Camber:-1.7
Rear right
Camber: -1.7
As I previously stated, I am on completely stock suspension. I understand the first generation Gs have alignment issues and tend to fether tires. But this is unreal. I've owned 3 cars before this and none have had camber issues like this. I don't want to spend an exorbant amount of money, but it's looking like I may have to. What are my options? Thanks in advance for the input.

The tech who worked on my car said he couldn't do anything about it. Apparently the car has been on an alignment rack somewhere in it's past life and the rear arms have been adjusted to the max. Makes me wonder what the camber was before...
I would take it somewhere else, there is no reason for you not to be in spec. The fact that your toe is so far off just screams that the tech doesn't know what the hell they are doing.
You can get the manafactures specifications as far as the camber, toe, and caster from the shop you got it from. If you received a copy of the alignment spec, it should have the before, after, and on top of that the manufacturers spec range. As far as having a negative camber, your wheels are basically angled out more than normal. This is done sometimes to have better handling with the car as far as cornering and such. Some high end cars come stock with this type of camber setting which makes the vehicle handle better. The downfall is that you would just eat up the inside of your tires. I think you can solve this problem by putting a camber kit. Looking at the specs you have for the toe, I do not think its way off, your toe spec range might be in between .10-.23, MAYBE! You should be worried about the to if you are a whole degree off. Yah take it to another shop see what they can do. Good luck!

Again if you looked at my reply I said MAYBE on the toe specs. And I never said that the negative camber on his ride was normal. The toe spec you gave has to have a range, i.e; .04 plus anothet number. Sorry bro, what do I know right, I mean I just work for a service shop myself.
Sean, this is an easy fix if you decide to correct it, like Jef mentioned just get a pair of adjustable camber arms and this is easily correctable. Check our MARKETPLACE under vendor suspension, I'm using SPL arms and they get the job done. This is way better/cheaper than buying tires once a year....

lol I would be loving those camber numbers if I was even close to those!

Well -1 camber is a big deal to me when I'm eating through tires relatively quickly. And the reason the toe was so far off was because the steering wheel was slightly turned. For my understanding, total toe is the number to be worried about.
Anyways, my question still remains, how can the camber be this bad on stock suspension. I assumed the camber would be slightly higher than on other cars I've owned. But the numbers I'm running are very high for someone in my situation. In addition, the tech said the rear arms were already maxed out, adjustment wise. Can someone comment on the adjustability of the stock arms?

And as far as it being maxed out I again seriously recommend you at least take it to someone else and have them look and see what they think. I've never heard of someone not being able to get stock setup back within spec, heck people with htechs are even able to get back in spec sometimes with stock kits. So your cheapest option is to take it somewhere else and have them take a look at least, if for some reason it is indeed maxed out and nothing else is wrong with your setup then you can purchase an ichiba rear camber kit and toe bolts for less than $150 and be back in spec no doubt.
