Hey guys,

I'm about to move to Upstate NY and I was considering getting a remote start for my '03 6MT. I know a lot of places do not recommend getting remote start for 6MT but what do YOU think?

I was looking into the Viper 5301 Responder LE 2-Way for $299 at Best Buy. What do you know about this system's security feature for 6MT? It says that it is compatible with manual cars but i'm not too sure about what security system they have.

If you have another remote start system, could you care to share?

Thanks!!!

I would not get a remote start with a manual transmission.

I would if I had the cash, there are ones that won't turn on the car if you are in gear. Technology isn't the same as when it first appeared.

yah with new remote start technology its much easier to install and work with. just a few years back you had to do a whole sequence of things just to get the car to remote s tart the next time you got in it. now days a lot of the systems the only step you have t o do is press the clutch in before you take the key out.

but i thought you would have to place a transponder near the ignition so your car would start? and if that is true, than it defeats the purpose of transponder key system

transponder bypasses with keys in them are a thing of the past. There are now direct bypass boxes which cost more, but you keep your extra key.

That's good to hear.

Does anyone out there have Remote Start on their manuals? Care to share what you have?

I asked BestBuy to install it but they would not b/c they've been sued too many times lol

Funny you should mention that, same problem here with Compustar on my Maxima and G35c 6MT's. Installer says there's no way around it. The biggest issue is that you don't get the warning chime when you get out of the car with the lights still on like you normally would. I've adapted though and it's well worth it.

My 04 6mt has the remote start. My lights are always on auto, and they shut off automatically. They also programmed my windows to go up automatically when i press the lock button.
