Intermittent power window problems continue

A little background. I had my door locks replaced under warranty and a few months later the driver side window refuses to retract upon open/close and the switch no longer functions, but it is intermittent. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Motor appears to be fine, full speed open/close when the signal reaches it. Anyone have a similar problem?

I plan on taking off the door panel and checking the switch this weekend, but not sure where to go once I confirm that's secure. The frequency of 'not functioning' appears to be increasing, possibly tied somewhat to the heat index. It's 110 every day here in Phoenix. Thanks for reading

Well, I popped out the switch mechanism and it's definitely in there solid. Passenger window still works perfectly, but driver's side just doesn't seem to get the signal more than half the time. Any idea what I should look for before I spend a fortune fixing it?

Is the connector loose? The white connector is part of the wire that you see going inside the door. Make sure the two ends are tight.

Yeah, connector is tight. Worked all day today, but that means the next few days it likely won't. I'll take the panel off tomorrow, but not sure what I should be looking for

motor is going bad and the brushes are making intermittant contact. Search on my350z.com for my DIY way to rebuild the motors.

That was my suspicion, I was just hoping it was a connection issue rather than the motor. I don't think I'll be rebuilding it, sadly. Over 90 degrees for the low until October...

Although I would pay someone to clean it out for me.... anyone in Phoenix interested? Haha

I had the same problem about a couple of years ago, by pounding on the door panel the window worked. I took apart the window motor and found that as carbon dust builds up on the motor brush assembly the motor brush spring is not strong enough to overcome all the carbon dust friction. I had to remove the brush carefully and clean out all the excess carbon dust. By doing this the motor brush now moves freely and is applying the proper pressure the the armature. Since doing that my window(s) have been working fine for a year now.

I also installed the 5 dollar door lock actuators as both my door locks were failing. Last week I had my radiator motor fans replaced as it died and cause my G to overheat. I had it towed to Infiniti and they fixed it under the 96 month manufacturer warranty. This is a high maintenance car!

My car: 2004 G35 Coupe 6MT, pearl white, performance wheel package.

the heat kills the coupe window motors. dis-assembling and cleaning it will only buy u so much time esp if u live in a warmer area. Really the best way to extend their life is to put a heat sync or a tiny fan on it but who the hell is really gonna do that lol

i stopped opening the window with the key fob and it stopped.
it was always a programing issue im told.
so maybe using the key screws it up.

bah, that explains why my driver side window does this too in the Florida summer heat.

Does anyone know the approx. cost to have the window motor fixed and do you have to take it to an Infiniti dealer to have it done?
