I tried searching and we have nothing listed on OC and how much loss would call for an engine replacement. To me 1 quart per 1K miles would indicate major problems. After Nissan's recommended change interval that would leave you with just over a quart....scary thought!

So basicly after like 1k miles just check your dipstick and if its lower on oil, you might start to question if you have OC or not huh?

that's what they had me do .. they topped off my oil, tie strapped the dipstick and I came back in 1,000 miles .. I was 1 quart low one time and 1 1/2 quarts low on the next so there was obviously a BIG problem .. I believe the TSB for the oil thing expressed just how much oil being consumed was acceptable and how much was within limits but if after 1,000 miles you're low, it's probably bad news .. after my new motor, I usually go down about 1 quart or less per 3,000 - 3,500 miles which my tech said was normal so gauge it on that I guess

Kinda a dumb question, but how do you know how much a quart is on the stick? Is it marked or something

There's a line on your dipstick that indicates that you're down a quart or some say add at that point. You haven't looked at many dip sticks huh?

I think when it says L or it's near the end of the line, it's around 1 or 1 1/2 quarts low because that's about where it was for me when I went .. I would go 1,000 miles then have barely any oil on the damn stick lol

here is the thread with the TSB .. if you look at the first two posts and read through the attachments it shows the dipstick and exact measurements for what's considered the be unacceptable

Good info man... Theres such a minimal difference from 5-6 mms but it does kinda seem like its almost 5mm every 1k.

Good information if it was ledgable.... If your dip stick level is on the second line after 1K miles I'd be concerned, like I initally posted that's a quart down.
