Buying used coilovers.. need advice

I'm looking to pick up these coilovers soon.

http://images.europeancarweb.com/fea...s_coilover.jpg

I negotiated him down $600 for these coilovers and he claims they only have 3k miles on them.

I'll ask him for some pics and I'll post them up if I ever get them.

My questions:
Are these worth $600?

How can I tell that they're in good condition? That they're real?

I have no experience with coilovers and just want to be careful when picking these up.

Thanks.

also i wouldn't let me post this in the suspension forum.. idk why.. too lazy to figure out why

i agree with rob, just save up your money and get BC coilovers (heard better things about them than tanabe, although there both great). You NEVER know how many miles are actually on used coilovers.

^^ Not true. The struts for Tanabe are made by KYB and the overall quality is higher than BC. Ride quality is better on the Tanabes as well. The BCs are cheaper though and offer a lot more drop than the Pro 5s. Tanabe Pro S-OC offer more drop but no dampening adjustment are in the same price range as the BCs.

So you have the Tanable Pro 5s's? Are you running them on the lowest setting? Got any pics?

They only have about another 1/2" F/R of drop left available in this pic. I can't say enough about the ride quality though. Amazing...........

The Pro 5 I got were under $1200 new. If dampening adjustment isn't important to you the Tanabe Pro S-OC can be found for under $900 new which is cheaper than the BCs. They offer a bigger drop than the Pro 5s as well so take that into consideration. Here's a review from earlier in the year from OCG35 on the S-OCs. He seemed to like them a lot.

All I can say about mine is I really like them. They are perfect for what I wanted out of a set of coils.

Got my BC's for a little under that amount, plus it's fully-adjustable. I'll have to take your word on ride quality though as i have no experience with the Tanabe's on the G.

The BC's ride pretty nice FWIW, much better than stock IMHO.
