Is it possible to down grade from Brembo brake system to regular infinity brake syste
Hey guys I been searching for this answer today and cant find anyone that knows. I just bought a used 2004 G35 Coupe six speed from the dealer. Come to find out that the brake system was converted from Brembo brake system to factory brake system that comes on the base models. I didn't know the car was a S series until someone told me that the S series are the ones that come six speed. I noticed that a chunk of the brake is not even hitting the surface of the rotor. What I mean is that a part of the brake is over lapping from rotor. My question is basically is there anyway to down grade from a car that stock comes with the Brembo brake system to factory Infiniti brake system. by brake system I mean calipers, rotors and pads.
What do I have to change. The car now has a factory Infiniti brake system but it doesn't fit right. What else do I have to do. It has oem calipers, rotors, and pads? Do you recommend to take it back to the dealer because it still is under warranty. I picked it up today.
Theres two brake systems from the factory. Non brembos and Brembos. If you have the brembos they are gold and bigger. The others are silver. Your confusing us by saying the car now has the factory brakes.
Im sorry if you guys might not be understanding what I am saying and Project sorry if I am confusing you. The problem is someone already down graded to non brembo brake system. Whats happening is because they did this the brake pads are over lapping the rotor. A half of the brake pad is on the rotor and the other half is off the rotor. I believe that the person before trading in this car took the brembo brake system to make some money off of it and the dealer didn't realize. If your saying there is away to down grade what did they do wrong. They put the caliper non brembo the silver ones you are talking about and the rotors and pads are for the non brembo calipers as well.

maybe they changed the calipers only and forgot to change the rotors as well? the brembo package comes with bigger calipers and/or rotors or the mounting brackets could be different

is the front caliper dual? if its single, your g might be non-brembo 04.
I THINK there are 6mt 04 without brembos off the line..im pretty sure not all 6mt are equipped with brembos.
and what the hell is S series? the S (not really a "series") came into play for g37S..not 04 g35.

Are the front brake calipers 2 piston or 1 piston? If they are two piston, then maybe they are using the old 11.8" rotor setup from the 03-04 nonbrembo coupes.
If the calipers are 1 piston, then maybe they downgraded the rotors to something even smaller, like a 11.1" rotor.
Sounds like you have discussions coming up with the dealer.
If they can't change the brakes to the brembos for you, you may need to get a used set from the forum or ebay.

Factory!
You need to post a picture. You'll get more accurate responses. What your describing sounds like just the brake pads are too long??? This is a fairly good photo of a 2003 non-Brembo factory rotor/caliper. Do your rotors/calipers look like this?
