Temperature Reset?
Temperature Reset?
Is there a way to reset the temperature display on dashboard of a 2006 coupe? My temperature is never accurate and it gets pretty annoying not knowing exactly how hot it really is outside.
How far is it off? It will usually read high if the car has been sitting in the sun all day, and then generally go back down to a more reasonable/accurate measurement once you start driving around and the heat-soak wears off as milder air passes over the car.
Yes, I'm aware of that. But today was 111 degrees in SoCal and my dash was reading 98 degrees. Huge difference. It's been doing this for quite some time now. I just want to recalibrate it ,if thats possible.
Simplest way I can thing of to reset the thing would be to...
A) find which fuse controls the panel and simply pull it out, then reinsert it.
or
B) Unplug the battery terminal then replug it back in.
In both cases though, be sure you're out of direct sunlight (or out of a hot garage). Then drive around for a few minutes and it should be just fine.

A couple of points to bear in mind.
1 the temp sensor is a thermistor, the resistance decreases when the temp increases, if you have additional resistance in the connectors it can introduce an offset into the measurement (the temp will allways read lower than actual). The sensor should read 6K ohm @ 32F, 1.76K@86F, 1.47K@95F,
2 if the problem is not a poor connection, or bad sensor, it is most likley in the "display and A/C auto amp". As far as I can tell there is no calibration, it either works or it dont
Hope this helps.
