The fans only usually go on at idle. On the highway etc.. the fans don't turn on. So the fan theory is out IMHO

If it was a 03 with the fan clutch, I HIGHLY DOUBT IT.

My car over heated once to 230 i turned off the car and the auxilary fan cut off. (it's the only electric fan on the car)

It matters a lot. If you let a towed vehicle's drive wheels stay on the ground, you risk severe transmission damage.
You're right Tim, but not all of us live in the "Wide Open Spaces" so the towing I was refering to wouldn't be more than 5 to 10 miles. I've only used flat beds and only with my wife's Vette....gotta love those GM ignition modules! (now a thing of the past)

OP doesn't say what G35 he has but since this is in the coupe forum, I'd say he has a coupe. I don't think any coupes came with the clutch fan and only has the dual elecric fans.

The radiator issue was caused by the towing. Click and Clack covered this on Car Talk a few months ago, and the story was freakin' hilarious. The radiator and transmission blew up mid-tow. Unfortunately I can't find the specific episode on the website. I'll keep looking and see what I can dig up.

I towed my car 45 miles to the dealership once.

A heavy duty tow rope to the bumper and an expedition pulling it. Mind you the car was on and in Neutral. (transmission died)

I did not have any problems as the fans did their job. had the car been off.... perhaps a different story.

It shouldn't take very long to determine if the motor is blowed up.
