Angry Need some HELP...

Okay, first off my 05 6MT has been stored since the first of May. While it was stored in my friends garage, it was taken out a few times every month and started, but not really actually driven that much...So anyway my gf was down there starting her, and decided to take her down the road. Here's my problem, she over headed, my gf started freaking out, and called my friend, he asked what she should do, he told her to turn it off, let to cool down and bring it back. She did, and added a little coolant. When I got back 2 days ago, first thing I did (before I knew it over heated) I took it to get the oil changed, and drove it for a good 3 hrs, after the oil change with no problems, when I opened the trunk, and seen the yellow jug, I asked why it was in there, and she told me. So I checked all the fluids, and nothing was low, or empty. Now fast forward to last night I was at a buddies and we were chiilin in the G catching up, and I was telling him about Iraq. As we were talking I seen what I thought was smoke coming from the engine bay, turned out to be steam, So I turned the car off, and checked everything, after checking everything, and letting it cool I decided to drive it home, made it home, about 10 miles with no problems at all.

Now my question is, what would cause this, how can I fix, and a rough est. on how much it will cost to fix.

Sorry, for the long a$$ story I just wanted to explain everything.

Thanks in advance...

*EDIT* wasn't there some sort of fan recall? correct me I'm wrong.

Thermostat might be getting stuck from sitting.

I would change that out and get the cooling system flushed.

I would take it to a private shop, honestly. Just because they work there doesn't mean they know what they're doing

I think a coolant flush is around $100. A Mishimoto thermostat is $65 or so from amazon.com.

I'd say you wouldn't spend more than $200 for parts and labor.

But if the hobby shop on base is still open, go there. The older guy that works there knows his shiit and would be glad to help out.

He probably still remembers me...tell him I said what up! haha

I'm not in SC, I flew home yesterday. I'm trying to get all my parts installed, I can do everything but the clutch/flywheel. I think I can anyway lol.
