Dead battery, why?
Dead battery, why?
Woke up this morning to go to work, battery is dead.
I did not leave any lights on, or anything plugged in. I know the G is an electrically heavy car so I assume the battery just died.
I bought a new battery and the car started right up.
Car has 45k miles, was it just time for a new battery?

Was the car driven the previous day or was it sitting for a while?
On average car battery should last longer than 45k. However weather conditions, heavy use, etc... can shorten a batteries life.
After you bought your new battery how long was your drive to work? Reason I ask is that new batteries do have a charge on them usually when you buy them new, so yes the car would start up once you installed it.
What might be a possibility is if there is a problem with your charging system. If your new battery dies soon then it is very possible that your car is not charging the battery. Let me know if you have any more problems. If you want while the car is running check the voltage to see if the charging system is working properly with a voltmeter.
However, it might of just been a bad battery and your charging system might be working great. I just wanted to mention the charging system as a possibility. Hopefully it was just a bad battery and you will have no more problems but in case you do have more problems it is something to check out.

I got home last night around 1130pm. Left for work at about 7am, it was dead.
I'm pretty sure the battery just died is all. I'm going to test start it here in a minute to make sure its holding a charge

I know I was incorrect, reason I said that was I figured if there was only 45k the car was on the newer side since I drive about 25k a year. However, I was wrong.
mine went last night. it was really sudden, not like the battery degraded slowly over time. well i ended up push starting my car just so i could get back to school. as soon as i got back to my house at school i unloaded then took a trip to our local 24 hour auto zone. thank god i drive a manual.
