5AT Suck or Not bad?
Re: 5AT Suck or Not bad?
The 5AT is not bad at all. Don't let the haters tell you otherwise. Automatic transmissions are so much better now than the old days, its really just a matter of preference now.
I ran a 14.368 at 98.064mph with my 5AT on 17's. And I know I could have done even better had I had more runs (only got 3) and if I actually tried to do something different (did the exact same thing 3 runs in a row).

My setup: STOCK '03 Auto 5AT Base (17", cloth, NO options at all). Power braked to ~2000rpms with VDC off for each run.
Track: 1/4 Mile, ~75F temps. Altitude = ~200ft below sea level (or something like that, California Valley). Humidity was like 70% I think.

Stock 5AT. 14.368 E.T. at 98.064 MPH - 09/29/04

Mozy,
wow!! thats an amazing slip. Makes me very happy with my car also that you were able to pull that time with a stock car. I wonder how much better it could be with a minor mod like a z tube and pop charger or K&N.
