Hello every body, i just recently registered on this website cause i wanted some ideas and opinions from everybody. I just turned 17 recently and im wanting to get a sporty car with the money i am saving up. My main concern is what the insurance would cost and what would be the best for me, well, lets get to the cars. I started out wanting a civic si sedan (2007) because they are cheap on insurance and are reliable cars and isn't too much for me. Then i though about the $$$$$, i thought that why would i get a civic si for the price i could find a nice G35 coupe or a 350z for the same price with more performance and style/luxury. Im not a spoiled kid, i have been saving my money up and im using my OWN money to get a car that i can enjoy my senior year of high school in (junior now). Please help me out on this decision and which one would be best for me and what the pro's and cons are, i will probably keep the car till the end of college. And also please dont give me details of the automatic g35's and 350z's cause im going to get a 6 speed no doubt. I already know quite a bit about these cars but i just want your guys opinions and Thanks to all and Happy Thanksgiving!

PRO: G35 is definitely sportier, faster, better looking than a civic Si sedan.

CONS: G35 will be way more expensive to mod (if you're into that sort of thing) and be prepared at your age to spend between 1500-2000 per year to insure the vehice, and more if you've already got a dirty driving record.

Buy the Honda and drive it until you're finished college and have a job. Way cheaper on gas and probably insurance, too.

Yea, insurance is going to be the biggest thing... your probably going to end up paying about $200/mo+ on insurance at your age, and depending on the year of the car.

Do you plan on financing the car?

it will probably be a 2005 g35 coupe 6mt, and im going to be paying CASH up front, and i dont want to purchase from a dealer either but, im not gonna buy a classified one that has had the living dog squeeze ran out of it.

I haven't had any tickets or been in any accidents so i got a clean record and the most that i would be doing to the car is a cold air intake, exhaust, and possibly headers. And I think that im going to be able to cover the insurance if i was to get a g35 cause thats my #1 car on my list.

It's good your paying for the car up front, saves you some monthly payments. But only being 17, you haven't really had much time to rack up bad record. Insurance is more likely to charge you just because you don't have much experience driving, after 20, you start getting things like "good driver" discount ect.

Have you thought about getting on your parents policy? Probably be cheaper that way. Either way, get a few quotes before you actually purchase the car.

I will be on my parents policy to save some money and i'll probably have some quotes by the end of next week. I got a friend that totaled a 18 thousand dollar truck and he ended up with a red 03 350z and he said his insurance is around 200 but he doesn't have full coverage ($350 he said for full). And i just assumed that the g35 would be cheaper on insurance since it has a back seat and that's the main reason why i want it is for the back seat and it basically has the same performance as the 350z.

Also it's gonna be around February of next year or march at the latest before i purchase it so thats why i wanna go ahead and get some opinions and knowledge of the car more.

Well, I'm not sure if an Infiniti is going to cheaper than a Nissan, but it's good your getting on your parents policy - save alittle money.

Full coverage may seem like alot of money to pay, but if something happens to the car your really going to wish u had it. Good luck on the quotes, hope you get a good rate

Get a G sedan.

That way you will get less attention from cops, your insurance will be less, & they are actually lighter & a bit faster.

if you don't like how they look stock, take a look at a few lightly modded ones on this website and I'm sure you will start to drool. I am 20 so i can relate to you on alot of accounts.

Yea 2 drs are almost always more expensive to insure

Buy something else/Cheaper... High School/College kids are careless SOBs. Go for the Civic or another sporty, yet cheaper to insure/maintain ride. I love the G35, but I can't imagine having had mine while I was in college/High school. Unless driving around in a dinged to hell, paint scuffed ride doesn't bother you, then go with something else. I guarentee you'll be a target if you show up at either HS or college in a G.

Well im not one of those careless SOBs that pays Cash up front as a 17 year old for a g35 with my OWN money that i worked for, and i wouldn't be a target cause there's 2 cheerleaders that drive g35 coupes and theres about 3 other people that have g35 coupes and theres 4 350z's soo i dont think being a target would be a problem and if so then i would beat the **** out of them after they payed for the repairs

i agree with what you said about the sedan but, im just not into the older body styled g35 sedans too much and i can't seem to fine one with a manual transmission.
