Dead Battery & Windows Up?

Dead Battery & Windows Up?
I've searched the user manual and posts for an answer but what happens if the coupe's windows are fully closed and the battery is dead? How do you get into the car to release the hood if the windows are in the full up position?

Re: Dead Battery & Windows Up?
i think his concern is opening the door while the window is fully up without damagine the sealing mechanism.
I *think* (someone correct me if i'm wrong) that the design of that rubber stuff over the windows is shaped so that opening the windows while fully up is no problem. To me it looks like when you normally open the door, the window doesn't even go down until the door is a bit out there. It's all about the slope of the rubber seal.
Now, closing the door while the window is up is another thing.

"Doesn't the window need to roll down a bit before you open the door? Looks to me like I'd have to force the window to clear the roof sill."
I don't think so, cause I don't think the window normally rolls down fast enough for when a person opens the door. Heck, try to do it REALLY slowly to make sure you don't break anything.
And no key hole? I have a keyhole in my car's door...

Re: Dead Battery & Windows Up?
Thanks for confirmation that this is not an issue. Sorry for the what if question...curious minds wanted to know if this was a potential problem to keep in mind if you needed to store the coupe for an extended period...assuming that it's locked, and all the windows are fully up.

Re: Dead Battery & Windows Up?
I had to replace my drivers' side window motor not to long ago.
I notice now that if I open the door normally, ( just pull the handle and open the door), my rear portion of the window just barely hangs up on the moulding above the door........
I know the original motor never caused this situation....so I guess I will have to take it back to the dealer and have them either adust the window, or replace this motor. It doesn't seem as strong or fast as the original.....
So, in my case, if my battery went dead, I think I would have to really be careful when opening the door or else I might scrape up the door moulding on the roof......

Re: Dead Battery & Windows Up?
My window was stuck in the fully up postion for weeks waiting on a window motor replacement.
Never had an issue with hitting anything.
I don't think it goes down to clear anything, it moves up when you shut the door to get a better seal.

Re: Dead Battery & Windows Up?
Opening the door with the window fully up shouldn't damage anything....just be careful and do it slowly.
b4 closing it tho, make sure you have power to lower the window slightly first.

Re: Dead Battery & Windows Up?
Mine does not hit with the window fully up no matter how hard you shut the door.
If you're worried about it, here is an easy check:
With the window up, open the door and unscrew the door swith. You should hear the window pop up all the way. Shut the door carefully and see if you have clearance.
Mine is fine, but it may be different depending on how your window got adjusted.
If it does hit, it's a bad adjustment along with sloppy engineering.
BTW, after I got the new motor, my window only drops about 1/16". The passenger side drops about 1/2".
It is obviously not right, but was not adjusted before I picked up the car.
Lesson: Check it before you leave the dealer.
