Problems Getting Up Carport

Okay so here's the deal: My car is lowered on Eibach Pro Kits and I have the stock 17" rims. I'm moving into a new house and my car can't make it up the initial hump for the carport. The car makes it up fine until I get to the rear end and the exhaust (I'm assuming) starts to scrape real bad. I want to avoid having to replace the springs and shocks back to stock or something higher, but I may have to.

My question is this: First of all I haven't tried backing up into it yet because I'm afraid of damaging the car. Would it generally have less clearing issues backing into the carport? Also, I was planning on buying new rims in the near future anyways, so if I got rid of my stock 17s and got 20s would that add a lot of height to the vehicle or does that not change much?

If you get bigger size wheels then yes your car would be higher off the ground

Put some wood or something by the curb, might help. I had to do that before.

How much higher off the ground would new wheels make the car?

Also, I think the wood thing is a great idea but I'd like to avoid having to drag a piece of wood in and out of the garage everytime I want to get into my house.

I don't think bigger wheels will increase your ground clearance. When you get bigger rims, you get tires with smaller sidewalls.

Hmm good point. Should I just get coilovers and raise my rear end? It currently scrapes so bad that I refuse to take it up the driveway, it's not like it's just a little scrape.

I would pour concrete in the driveway approach. Pour the concrete over a schedule 80 pvc pipe to maintain drainage if necessary.

go in as sharp as you can. if anything you should be scrapin your ypipe, but if you're scrapin your muffler you must have a serious incline to go up.....pix of your car going up it?

i say just buy some long pieces of wood from home depot for $10. It's the cheapest way of solving your problem short of going back to stock height.
