When i turn my car on in the cold and start driving like a minute later in 1st and 2nd something vibrates it sounds like its something close to the dashboard like the firewall i guess. It stops when the oil temp goes up. weird.
^ Blown muffler bearings. They are in the header next the firewall. It goes away when they get warmed up, which is about the same time the engine and engine oil reach normal operating temps. You may want to call and get an estimate, or it'll be covered under factory warranty. If one of the bearings comes loose it'll get stuck in the catalytic converter and throw off your timing belt. The belt is very expensive on the VQ engine because it's behind the radiator tensioner (not hard, just time consuming).

^OMG...that sucks for him!
I know the timing belt is actually a timing chain in the VQ so if it gets thrown off you will also have to replace the transmission bearings too. Either that or it's your alternator bushings...

New owners luck. You know something always has to go wrong :/
Are you still under factory warranty? It shouldn't cost you anything. I believe they extended the warranty for this part.
Definitely not the alternator bushings because he said this sound goes away when it warms up.

I know muffler bearings arent real but what could the noise be on a serious note.
On a serious note it is probably the ring lands failing. They are cold and constricted on start up and expand to fit the cylinder when it warms up. The VQ has a nasty habit of oil consumption (searchable here). Once this happens you really do only have about 75 miles before the motor seizes and Infinti USA is notified via the ecu that you did not correctly service your car. The ring lands are replaced at the 30 and 60k services. Most people skip it. Did you buy used? The owner before probably didn't have it done.

yes it is a 2005 6mt with 74k miles. no oil consumption issues. knock on wood. Is this expensive?

My rattle sounds like it's coming from the floor of the passenger side. I don't know for the life of me what it is. I'm guessing it's inside the passenger door near the speaker....Pffft... but who knows. I usually have the stereo loud, except when my 6 year old is in the car.

The only noise I have is when the seat belt holder on the passanger side isn't in the upright position and it vibrates against the door. I discovered that one shortly after I brought SLICK home.
