Re: Why doesn't Infiniti make better cars?

Based on 2003 models, Infiniti was tied for having the second least amount of problems per vehicle. Lexus had the least amount of problems per 2003 vehicle.

Based on 3 & 5 yr old cars, Infiniti was the least problematic brand, doing better than even Lexus.

Re: Why doesn't Infiniti make better cars?

The old G20, QX4, J30, etc... were incredibly reliable cars. Although Ghosn has done a great job of turning Nissan around in terms of making them profitable, it seems that quality has slipped a bit. Now we don't know if the people complaining here are in the vocal minority until the long term reliability reports come out for the G35. When the G35 is 3 years old, we'll see it stacks up.

"I dont understand how nissan can build these cars, have flaws, and then not fix them asap in production"

Consider this is a rather large corporation. The troubleshooting and reengineering process starts at the dealership level where the problems are diagnosed and reported. To get it from this point, to the production line tends to be a nightmare for large corporations. Check, balances, budgets, and just pain in the *** people can get in the way. Add to that the fact that many parts are manufactured by other companies. Getting changes to occur there as well takes many additional steps. As simple as the solution might be at the consumer end, within the corporation, it can be a rather painstakingly complex process.

I have a 330i BMW, maybe this will make you feel better: I hear you on the little problems, but I believe all cars have them!

Problems with 2001 330i BMW:
1. new tranny at 69K (NO warranty)= $4200.00 of my hard earned dollars....THAT PISSED me off to say the least!
2. passenger door leaked water into the car for 6 months, supposedly fixed 4 times? Talk about pissing good humored man off!
3. motor mount replaced (warranty)
4. cam sensor replaced (warranty)
5. bulbs blow out atleast 2 or 3 times a year (not headlights)
6. front brake pads at 18K (warranty)
6. REALLY shitty stereo
7. Dash light flicker on and off from time to time, they say they cannot find the problem?
8. Sunroof has come off the track 2 times.
9. Driver door handle has been replaced and is starting to stick AGAIN!
10. Passenger seat needed to have the rails replaced to stop the darn thing from rattling! (warranty)
11. I know there is more, but I don't want to bore you any more!

All this for $43,000 and purchasing "The Ultimate Driving Machine".............but you know what, I love this car too!

The only thing that pisses me off is that my front bumper is chipped beyond belief even without excessive highway driving. Other than that, the car is amazing.

Re: Why doesn't Infiniti make better cars?

Consumer Reports rates Infiniti's very high for reliability. For six month old it comes in second to Lexus by 1 car. It is ranked number 1 for cars 3 and 5 years old, not far behind is Lexus and Acura.
