My New G35! Need your opinion.
My New G35! Need your opinion.
Hi guys!
I am planning on buying a new G35 off a dealer in Cincinnati. Was looking at different options, and would like to get a premium and sport (upgraded wheels) package, but not sure about the aero package.
1) Should I get aero? Does it improve anything? Not asking about the look, but more about performance and or cornering etc?
2) $34,300 for new 2004 with premium/sport (no aero, no NAV) is it a good deal?
3) Should I wait for 05 models or save some money and go with 04 since there are not a whole lot of differences between them?
4) Anything from respective owners to add? Something I need to be cautious about…anything?
Thanks a lot in advance! Looking into buying one in 2 weeks.
Grrrrrrrrrrrr can’t wait!!!!!

1) The aero decreases the coefficient of drag a tiny bit if that means anything to you. It won't improve cornering.
2) Looks like a good deal, I paid $400 more for mine with same configuration.
3) Depends if you like the '05 model. I really like my '04 more than the '05, but the new model does have some nice features.
4) I can't think of anything...just make sure your new car doesn't have excessive mileage when you pick it up, usually means it's been test driven (beaten to death) alot and who wants that?
Enjoy your new ride!!!

save some money and buy the 04. Think of it as free tax, title, license.
Only my opinion. you'll have others that say buy an 05. guess what, YOU have to drive it and YOU have to pay for it so you're gonna have to make up your mind.

1) The only good thing about the aero is the rear spoiler, which IMO is a must on dark-colored Gs. Others will tell you they prefer to keep the clean lines of the car. So it's totally up to your own preference.
2&3) It depends on how long you're planning on keeping the car. An '04, though practically new, has already depreciated more than any amount they can give you off sticker price. So what looks like savings now will run you more expensive in the long run should you decide to sell it a couple of years down the line. This has been widely discussed before. Take a look at the '05 interior (dealer should already have them) and decide for yourself. There isn't that much of a difference really.

I'd go for the Nav... I know there are lots of people that regret not getting it after they bought it. Another option would be to go with an aftermarket, but then you won't get the neat built in features like: Low Gas Dummy! .. then pops up all nearest gas station on your screen. OR Door open/E-brake on/maintenance reminder/etc.
Aero package is up to you.. The drag co-efficient is decreased by .01. Not much difference. The Aero package is not just the exterior, there's an underbody diffuser so the car is aerodynamic "under" as well.
If the piggy bank is an issue, you can always add it AFTER you get the G... Go OEM, or aftermarket... really up to you.
Good luck!
